    Colts without Manning

So obviously the colts struggled without Manning today and will continue to do so. I'm pretty sure this is not a shock to anyone, except perhaps the colts fans (not even the team themselves though).

I wanted to mention this just because I thought it was kind of funny. The colts fans have bitched and moaned for years about how Peyton should ALWAYS be the MVP becasue he means so much more to his team than any player in football, etc, etc, etc

Well, as soon as the news came down that he'd be out for a while everyone started saying how they are maybe a 6 win football team. Ok, no problem with that from anyone right? Well, colts fans got all pissy and started complaining about how that isn't fair and they are still a good team without Manning and so on.

Um, colts fans, you can't have it both ways! He can't be the most important player ever and then you're shocked when people start picking against you! Which is it you are a good team regardless or Manning means everything to you? Just thought that was kind of comical and figured I'd see if any of you had noticed that too!!

I have nothing against the colts, their fans, or Manning. In fact, I happen to like Manning and have always thought colts fans to be pretty reasonable and have had no problem tolerating them. Then again, I really only know a couple and haven't come across too many otherwise.

Sorry, as I'm sure yinz guys have noticed I can't say anything in a few words, but thoughts?

Depends on the fans that you talk to. I visited a forum last week, and it seemed many of them knew the season didn't look well at all. But there were the ones who truly believed they'd turn out good, that they were the underdogs and somehow would end up in the playoffs.

Right, it wasn't my intention to lump all the colts fans into that category. I just found it amusing that so many of the people who made the arguement were offended by people picking against them for virtually the same logic.

    How about this...............

Colts are horrible this year, Manning doesn't return this season and they draft Andrew Luck with the 1st overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft!?!?!??!!?!?

Obviously a lot of things have to happen first and there are no guarantees the kid is going to be great, but it seems like he probably will be. I would hate that just because I'd love to see the kid revive a franchise that has been terrible for a long time as opposed to the colts just being able to groom him and stay good after Manning retires.

I bet they don't take a first round quarterback. Unless this whole neck thing actually becomes a career ending thing for Manning, he will still be the starter there for a good 3 years after this season. First round quarterbacks don't come cheap, and to have him standing behind Manning for that long might not sit well with him also.

But then again, Aaron Rodgers spend 3 years behind Favre. Only time will tell.

I just hope Luck doesn't go to Oakland. That's just a career killer for any young player.

Ya, I was thinking of Rodgers when I posted that. Also, remember with the new rookie wage scale it doesn't cost the crazy money that it used to. I was joking really, but was just saying how damn crazy would that be!! If somehow they are picking 1st overall (the dude is going 1 overall, no doubt in my mind) they would take him. I agree, Manning has several years left but if you have a chance to take him you'd be crazy not to, I think. He seems to be a really good kid and is from a good family.

His father is the AD at WVU and is a GREAT man. I have met him and he is just a wonderful person. I think he'd be fine with sitting cause he's the kind of kid that is just going to do whatever is expected of him and not complain. Remember, he came back to school even knowing his coach was moving on because he said getting his degree was important to him and what his family expected of him.

It won't happen, I know, I was just kinda laughing at the idea. I also hope he doesn't end up in Oakland or the AFC at all for that matter cause I think he's gonna be money.
