Swayze Waters released, Sean Suisham is your 2011 Steelers kicker

Just saw a tweet come down from Swaye Waters, he was released this afternoon.
“@swayzewaters Just got released. Thankful for opportunity and the support of #steelernation. It was real. Be blessed! +++ #ao1 #steelers

Our RT to him: good luck man, we'll follow your career
This was a move most of us probably expected, however it always sucks to see a good guy get cut. Let's hope Suisham can keep up the reliable kicking and improve his post season efficiency.

Was impressed with SUisham last night, especially on kickoffs. I think the 53 yarder he made sealed the deal for him to be on the team.

Waters was the better choice especially whan sweezy doesn't reach the goal line and we get burned on specials mark it down

I thought they may have considered keeping both of them. I know it sucks to take up a roster spot with an extra kicker but some teams do it. 1 for KOs and 1 for FGs and in the event Suisam was sucking we'd of already had his replacement on the roster. I didn't think they'd actually do it (not saying they should've either) but thought it was something they could've considered.

He seems to have been pretty solid for us, and hopefully that keeps up. If we lose a game on one of his kicks (makeable) early in the season, I think all of Steeler nation will let out a huge groan. We need to make it through the first part of the year and I think the special teams make me nervous still. Both kicking and kick coverage.

He had some problems with his kickoffs not going as deep as others were able to do. Perhaps part of that was Tomlin wanting to get the coverage teams some work?

Either way his regular season kicks don't worry me, it's his post season ones that I'm concerned about.
