I agree Matt, why isn't Cowher backing Whiz and Grimm. It makes you wonder if they totally got along with Cowher. But then again Cowher hired Grimm and Whiz plus promoted Grimm to assistant HC and Whiz as OC. Very strange very strange why Cowher isn't supporting his top two assistants.

Maybe a riff between Cowher and these two did develop this year?

cowher is probably just hating on them, because they always wanted to do stuff that would open the team up and win, but cowher wanted to be martyball part 2

lol ok I agree Cowher didn't always get it done in the play-offs. But he was much better then Marty. I think Marty coached teams are 5-12 in the play-offs.

Dunno, maybe they did have some type of creative difference on how to run the team this past year, who knows?

Grimm seems more like Cowher, hard nosed and stubborn on how things should be done. To me Whiz seems more like the guy would want to push the envelope with the offense.

if that's the case, **** grimm, cowher never won a damn thing while he was in pittsburgh, it wasn't until he finally let whiz open stuff up is when he won a ring....cowher is a bum and overrated, and if grimm is anything like cowher then he'll be a bum......but i read grimm wanted to make moves that could've made us better but cowher wouldn't allow it

I don't either just racking my brain why Cowher wouldn't back Grimm or Whiz. I just want Whiz to be named HC. If not Whiz then wait for Ron Rivera but just as long as Rivera keeps the 3-4 and Coach LeBeau.

But Kordell did throw 21 TD's and run for 11 TD's in 1997 when Gailey was the HC. By far Kordell's best season TD wise with the Steelers.lol

    Exactly!!

As soon as Cowher said Chan Gailey the Rooney's should have just flushed that down their mental toilet and had security escort Bill out of the Steeler complex along with a one way plane ticket back to Carolina.

I'm not sure how he did this
Under Gailey, the Cowboys compiled a composite regular season record of 18-14 in his two seasons, qualified for the playoffs both years, and captured the NFC Eastern Division title in 1998. In addition, the Cowboys finished in the top five in the NFL in both fewest turnovers and fewest interceptions in each of Gailey's two seasons as head coach, including a number one ranking in both categories in 1998.
In Gailey's first season with the Dolphins, he helped guide a running game which amassed 1,894 yards, the most by a Dolphin team since 1984. Lamar Smith finished tenth in the AFC with 1,139 yards rushing, the second-highest single-season total by a Dolphin, marking just the seventh time (fifth player) that a Miami player reached the 1,000-yard plateau.
In seven of the eight seasons that Gailey was either a coordinator or head coach in the NFL, he had a player attain the 1,000-yard rushing mark each time, including Jerome Bettis of the Steelers and Emmitt Smith of the Cowboys.
From what I've read http://ramblinwreck.cstv.com/sports/...ey_chan00.html maybe Cowher just thought that Gailey would continue to keep this team a traditional running game.
Like him or not should he even get a shot here again, We'll all have to deal with it
