Baron Batch making a name for himself in training camp

If you've been following the training camp updates and tweets about how the 2011 Steelers camp is going then you've undoubtedly seen the name Baron Batch flying around pretty regularly. He was the Steelers 7th round draft pick this past April and figures to be in stiff competition not only for a roster spot overall but also with the rest of the backs in camp.

Batch has a great attitude and is very hungry to start his career in the NFL. Being a 7th round draft just adds to the pressure but early on atleast he certainly seems to be up to the task.

You can catch our interview with Baron Batch from earlier this offseason right here on SA. courtesy of Blitzburgh Radio

Batch went toe to toe with James Harrison in the backs on backers drill, always a favorite of fans especially to watch. This kid continues to impress in camp so far.

I really like this kid, he's got so much potential and he seems to be so hungry to make it in the NFL that you just have to root for him. He's got a fearless attitude and a never quit mentality, which works great on a team like the Steelers.

If he stays hungry, he stands a good chance to make the roster and send Jonathan Dwyer to the scrap heap. WHat pleases me is the way I hear a lot of these young guys talking about contributing and referencing special teams. I like the enthusiasm and "selflessness" being displayed so far.

This is funny at draft time everyone including myself was questioning some of the late round picks looks like they did their homework with Batch . Maybe he will be behind memo or maybe platoon change of pace back so far so good
