    Steelers all time sack leaders

Jason Gildon still holds the record with 77. It's funny to think about though, a defense as legendary as the Steelers and with all those linebackers you would think the top guys would have more. Just goes to show that Steeler defenses spread the wealth so everyone gets in on the act. I could see Woodley breaking that record if he sticks around long enough. Harrison has a chance too but he doesn't have as many years left as Wood does.

Top 20 all-time Pittsburgh Steelers sack leaders:
    (Through the 2010 season)
    #1 - Jason Gildon - 77
    #2 - Joey Porter - 60
    #3 - Keith Willis - 59
    #4 - Greg Lloyd - 53.5
    #5 - James Harrison - 49 *
    #6 - Aaron Smith - 44 *
    #7 - LaMarr Woodley - 39 *
    #8 - Kevin Greene - 35
    #9 - Clark Haggans - 32.5
    #10 - Chad Brown - 31
    #11 - Mike Merriweather - 31
    #12 - James Farrior - 28 *
    #13 - Keith Gary - 25
    #14 - Gerald Williams - 24.5
    #15 - Bryan Hinkle - 22.5
    #16 - Carnell Lake - 21.5
    #17 - Kimo Von Oelhoffen - 20.5
    #18 - Levon Kirkland - 18.5
    #19 - Kendrell Bell - 18
    #20 - Gary Dunn - 18

If Harrison can stay healthy and produce like he has been for a few more years, he'll be the sack leader

    BUT
We keep Woodley for 5,6 more years, he'll overtake Harrison and break 100 for his career, assuming he does also stay healthy and not get complacent

I know that sacks did not become a stat until the early 1980's, But I believe that LC, Mean Joe should be topping this list...

Think about Kendrell Bell, in just the short time he was on the team, and all the injuries he had that eventually shortened his career, he had 18 sacks. That man was just a machine, one of the hardest hitting linebackers we ever saw at the time.

Porter needs three more to break 100 for his career.

It's still a shame that Porter just wasn't going to fit into a Mike Tomlin coached team. He was a sack monster! He's still one of my favorite Steelers and clearly his time in Pittsburgh was his best on a consistent basis over the years. His best statistical year was of course in 2008 when he racked up 17.5 sacks that season.

LLoyd, nobody else comes close. I'm surprised that Gildon leads the list, was always a Lloyd light in my eyes.

Look at Smith's sack numbers, playing 3-4 defensive end.

I know right, you don't realize how many sacks that guy actually has being on the Steelers DL until you see the numbers. We sometimes forget that the big monsters in front can get after the QB too. If Aaron had stayed healthy these last couple years I wonder if he might go down as one of the best DL ever, possibly even a Hall of Fame candidate.
