    Baron Batch Talks Football, Charity

Sometimes there’s a player or two per draft that you’re really excited about, this year, Pittsburgh Steelers fans are excited about the entire draft, because overall, it was very solid and even more so high character. The seventh round pick of the franchise, Baron Batch, is no exception.

The small, hard nosed back out of Texas Tech is one of the most eloquent, down to earth young men that will ever step onto a football field, it felt less like an interview, and more like catching up with an old friend. Without boring you too much with what I have to say, let’s take a look at what Baron had to say.

Tom Jenkins: What are you most looking forward to during your rookie season?

Good read TJ. His brownie point stock went up a few notches when he mentioned Hines Ward in his favorite players list. lol

Yeah, I was making fun of him for saying Lewis and Reed lol. Then I admitted I was a Miami fan so I knew where he was coming from.

We'll see how much he likes them when he sees them 2 twice a year, every year. LOL.

Being out of Texas Tech, one of his biggest strengths besides his pass catching ability is his blocking in pass protection like he mentioned. If you're going to be a running back for the Steelers you're going to have to be able to pick up the blitzers. Those 2 things just might be enough to get him over the top and help secure a roster position over someone with a more traditional running back background.

    Nice job!
You know it's really refreshing to see a great group of down to earth youngsters that we have on this team. You can't help but pull for them personally not just because of their uniform.

Nice to read this story... I hope this is an honest feedback, not a bunch of PC answers to make him more likable to the fans
Would like to see him be a solid contributor to the team.....

From what I've read and heard about him, he appears to be a very genuine, down to earth, and dedicated individual. He's coming into a roster with 2 solid starters at RB and a veteran 3rd guy in Mewelde Moore that are more than capable of carrying the load. He knows if he's going to make the team it's going to take a ton of hard work and no BSing around.

I like the explosiveness he possibly brings. If you youtube him, he's as quick as hell in a short area and he can take it to the house on a simple screen play.

Ben will be even more lethal on 3rd down situation.
