Exclamation 2011 Steelers draft picks jersey numbers

    Saw this on Steelers.com previously.

The newest members of the Steelers have been issued jersey numbers this week. Now remember, these could very likely change before the season starts but for now this is what they have.

DT – Round 1 – Cameron Heyward: #97 (Currently Jason Worilds’ number so I’m guessing that one will change)
    OT – Round 2 – Marcus Gilbert: #65
    CB – Round 3 – Curtin Brown: #40
    CB – Round 4 – Cortez Allen: #39
    LB – Round 5 – Chris Carter: #54
    OG -Round 6 – Keith Williams: #62
    RB – Round 7 – Baron Batch: #35

Me too but I don't think corners can wear a single number in the NFL.

I was just checking on Steelers.com yesterday and they've already taken the numbers back down so at this point who knows. Im thinking if Heyward does want 97, he's going to have to cough up some of that first round draft pick money to Worilds to get it..LOL

I think Sweed should switch back to 14 from 80 and Sanders should take 15 and Brown should take 18 NFL rule 5 section3 article 3c
    QB'S ,K,P 1-19
    RB,DB 20-49
    C 50-59 alt 60-79
    OG,OT 60-79
    WR 80-89 alt 10-19
    TE 80-89
    DL 60-79 alt 90-99
    LB 50-59 alt90-99
the alternate numbers can only be assigned if all the numbers for a position are taken
During the pre season duplicate numbers are allowed but must be adhered to during the regular season teams maybe required by the league to un retire a number if none are availible Any special requests for numbers must by given to the Commissioner FOR APPROVAL

Cameron Hayward could be assigned 90 or 95 if he keeps up with the tradition of Steelers DL having numbers in the 90, although 93 could be open if Eason isn't resigned. But if CH wants 97 Jason Worild will be reassigned to 57 when Fox leaves or is released
Marcus Gilbert will be reassigned to 74, 66, 77, 79 or 71 when Colon, Hills, Brooks, Essex or Adams is gone
Curtis Brown will be reassigned to 21, 22, 24, 42 37 when Moore, Gay, or Taylor, signs with another team or Cromartie or Madision is cut. Although I do not want to see 24 become available
Cortez Allen will pick from whichever number Brown doesn't take.
Keith Williams will be assigned 66, because guards look better with lower numbers and the other options are all 70's numbers. I personally wouldn't mind 68 becoming available.
Baron Batch: he will have the same options as Brown and Allen, but will have to pcik last.
