Steelers draft - Round 6 Keith Williams OL Nebraska

    Player ranking and Stats

Let's face it: any senior offensive lineman coming out of Nebraska is going to get a look from NFL teams because of the storied program's ability to turn out pro-caliber talent. Williams' size and relative athleticism make him the next probable draft pick to come out of Lincoln.
Williams spurned his home-state Missouri Tigers to play for NU, redshirting in 2006 and played mostly on special teams the following year. He got his chance to shine as a sophomore, starting the last nine games of the year at left guard. He sat out the first game of 2009 due to injury, then played two as a reserve before starting the rest of his junior season, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 honors - a feat he duplicated while starting every game in 2010.
Williams' physical attributes, college pedigree and obvious toughness make him a mid-to-late-round pick and give him a chance to start in the NFL in time, but his upright stance and lack of elite quickness could also cause him problems against quicker, stronger linemen at the next level.

He's a project for sure, but potentially could be a good one. Reminds me a bit of Kemoeatu coming out of college. Kemo had feet of stone at first but over the years he developed into one of the better pulling guards in the league.

The thought that keeps coming into my mind is that this guy is at least a 50/50 chance to be the next Urbik. If so it's just another wasted pick when jerrel powe was available. Powe could have been slotted in at the nose for a dozen plays a game and given snack a breather.

There is a reason Powe fell so late in the draft.........Trust I wanted Powe to but its not Powe is a slam dunk to be a good player......Williams on the other hand seems to be the typical sloth OL we drafted for years until Pouncey/Gilbert.......But Williams does have a mean streak in him and can run block.....So there is some things there for Kugler to coach up..........In the 6th I'm not expecting much......

The guy has some potential. But he's a wait and see project. So we just have to wait, and see.
The Steeler way...is the only way.

Tony Hills has been a project that has been able to make the roster but not able to crack the lineup consistently when called upon. His days are now numbered if they can bring back Jonathan Scott and now have Gilbert in the mix.

If this kid can atleast be somewhat productive he'll have a better chance of staying on the roster and actually doing something since our depth at guard is slim to none minus Legursky.

He's a worthy gamble where we took him. Worth a shot, ya never know.
