    2011 Schedule Discussion

Some initial thoughts I have on the schedule..

A week 11 bye - Are you kidding me, I don't know if that's ever happened to us. We usually end up with an early bye or at worst around week 8.

Opening vs the Ravens: This is a new wrinkle, normally we play the Ravens within the first month to 6 weeks and then again at the end of the year. Now we have both games out of the way by the midway point.

Decembers Schedule - Chiefs, 49ers, and Rams all in the last 6 weeks of the season. That means that the steelers are going to have to set themselves up for the postseason in terms of tie breakers well in advance of the stretch run. 4 of the 6 AFCN games will be out of the way before we even hit December.

Tough games early with the Ravens, Colts, Texans. We will be tested early and often with the pass so we will find out right out of the gate how well we've fixed the pass defense.

A good mix of home and away, no long stretches on the road like previous years. No long stretches of back to back to back really tough games. Patriots and Ravens back to back will be crazy physical but atleast both are at home then.

5 prime time games but only one Monday Night affair.

Don't underestimate that final game on Jan. 1 at Cleveland. Depending on tight the AFC North is this year it could come down to that game as a potential tie breaking situation game.

That late bye week could be a curse or a God send. Im thinking it will be good to get healthy for the stretch run but man we gotta keep everyone on the field for a long time before that.

I don't know why we don't play Cleveland for the first time until dec 8? I think our schedule is easier than last years. We get the NFC West, with Seattle winning it at 7-9 last season? I saw 13-3, 12-4. Yes we'll have tough games vs the Colts, Patriots, Ravens. I'm not sold on K.C repeating what they did last year. Jags usually play us tough. I know some teams will improve.

The entire AFC North all has a relatively easy schedule this year overall. Each team's toughness percentage based on last years opponents is near the bottom of the league.

I hate when we do this - debate our schedule.....The year we won the SB against the Cardinals, we supposedly had the toughest schedule - which it was - but ran it. Other years, easy schedules do not pan out.

I look at specifics - I hate the Ravens opener on the road and playing the Patriots after thier bye.

I also do not like our toughest part of our schedule determining our tiebreakers if necessary.

But as long as we play football in September, I will be satisfied.............

    Bring on the draft.........
