with IOC losing the slots license today, there is a good chance the pens would move from pittsburgh. as this is a steelers community, what do steeler fans think of another major pro sports team leaving the area.

I think it sucks. But I can't say I'm not surprised.
I'm as big a Pens and Pirates fan as I am the Steelers so losing them would be as bad as any team leaving.
:: Whoa, where the hell was I for 2 years?::
I would hate to the the Pens leave... that's like taking butter away from bread!
I would be absolutely horrified to see the Pens pack up and leave Pittsburgh. That is a disgrace.
Sucks.. absolutley sucks. Rumor is Kansas City. Atleast thats what Mr. Mullett Melrose said on ESPN.
.
I am telling you if this happens, I am going to boycott the NHL for good. I am totally against this damn move.
Apparently the reason Basille backed out is because the NHL wanted a gurantee he wouldnt move the team and he wouldnt sign it. So I'm assuming that was his motivation all along so it might be a good thing he didnt buy them. IOC not winning might also make the Pens easier to sell as they asking price will have to come down considerably now that there is no arena deal in place. I can see why the PGCB picked the group they did as the Hill District would be far from an ideal place for a casino but it still sucks putting the Pens future in limbo

Mario Lemieux just released a statement on the Penguins website....
"Recent developments, including Wednesday’s decision by the PGCB, and the recent termination of the purchase agreement by Jim Balsillie have convinced us that it is time to take control of our own destiny. Accordingly, starting Thursday, the team is off the market, and we will begin to explore relocation options in cities outside Pennsylvania. After seven years of trying to work out a new arena deal exclusively in Pittsburgh, we need to take into consideration the long-term viability of the team and begin discussions with other cities that may be interested in NHL teams.
As soon as we are no longer restricted by our agreement with Isle of Capri from negotiating an arena deal here, in the next few weeks, we will also begin discussions with local leaders about a viable Pittsburgh arena plan.
We will have no further comment at this time."
I dont care what you've done for this team Mario if you move them, **** YOU!
