In this day and age, loyalty doesn’t mean much more than the paper that it’s printed on. It’s become a lost cause, where one’s whim can change in a second and with it, any former family and alliances can easily be thrown into the street, right?

Neither Ward nor Hampton are afraid to speak their minds, however when they do it it's not to the level of being detrimental to the lockerroom. Ward has been vocal in his displeasure with the NFL in recent years but he knows when to say when. When he held out for the brief period of time, sure it made news, but Ward never started a controversy that couldn't be laid to rest easily.

Hampton has also spoke his mind when asked, when he was in Tomlin's dog house about his weight or when questioned the league's policies recently. However he, like Ward, know that the team comes first. That the Steelers organization is a proud and respected franchise. They support their coaches and believe in the concept of what it means to be a Steeler. Playing for Pittsburgh is not like playing anywhere else; you are part of the city and a legacy that is unparalleled in professional sports.

I can see both guys retiring as a Steeler, no question about it.
