Steelers Notebook: Regular season has familiar finish against familiar foe

It will be a familiar ending to the regular season for the Steelers Jan. 2 in Cleveland.

For the ninth time since 1969, the Steelers and Browns will play in the regular-season finale. But for only the second time in that span, the game will be in Cleveland.

The last time the Steelers visited Cleveland for a regular-season finale was 1983, a 30-17 loss at Municipal Stadium. The Steelers played host to the Browns in 2008, '01, 1993, '92, '91, '87, '83 and '82. The Steelers won every home game except the one in '87.

The Steelers' last visit to Cleveland was not a good one. The Browns beat the Steelers, 13-6, last Dec. 10. It was the fifth of five consecutive losses in November and early December. The Steelers won their final three games against Green Bay, Baltimore and Miami to finish 9-7, but did not make the playoffs.

The Steelers all-time record against the Browns is 61-56. They are 22-35 in Cleveland.

    Playoff scenerio!

I don't even want to think about this but if we lose to Cleveland and Balt., Jets, Colts and KC win do we have to go to KC or Indy?

We will not lose. We know that the Browns want to beat us very badly and it would cap off their year to beat us.

We have a very fresh memory of last year and I have confidence that we will win the game. But it will be a struggle because they want to win and Mangini wants to save his job. And a win over us just may save his job.
The Steeler way...is the only way.

Last time Steelers beat browns in their last game of the season was in 08. Score, 31-0. And with that said, we went on to win the Super Bowl.

Well Cleveland, if you had beat the Ravens, it wouldn't have to be this way, but now the Steelers are forced to come in there and decimate you.

Can you smell the over confidence in the air?

4........ don't hit anyone from the opposing team anywhere above the belt, or we'll get called for helmet-to-helmet.
5........ Harrison just got called for one anyway and he wasn't even on the field.
6........ Cleveland just hit Ben a full 10 seconds after the play was over but the refs called it continuation.
7........ Harrison just got called for helmet-to-helmet again and the Steelers were on O.

Ditto on the h2h hits. I see flags from the refs being a potential problem in a game of this magnitude. The refs will have been primed by the league office to call the game extremely tight given the head shots last time they met. Let's hope that is not the case.

As far as the game goes, McCoy sucked against the rats (his worst game this year) so he will be motivated to redeem himself and end on a positive note.

Hopefully the bungles have some fight left in em after all the celebartions from their win this week.

The Browns would love nothing more than to spoil our postseason 2 seed plans, so it won't be a pushover game. McCoy made some plays last time we played them so I expect them to throw caution to the wind like they did today and pull out all the stops.
