2013 Record: 7-1. (TW 27-6 Rams) (TW 28-0 Raptors) (TW 33-12 Thunder) (TW 7-21 Seminoles) (TW 39-32 Cougars) (TW 23-15 Stealth) (TW 58-8 Force) (TW 31-28 Fury)
I think if he wins a 3rd Super Bowl this season he will strongly consider hanging it up. But the guy can still play and is money in the clutch...
I think this is Hines last year as an every down receiver. It will be interesting to see what happens next year though, because Wallace, Brown Sanders, Sweed, ARE and Battle will join Ward as the WR's, but none of them are really #1 WR. If Hines can play as the third receiver or come out once and awhile, he could play 2 more years, maybe
Long enough to get train our young guys the fine art of blocking the **** out of someone!
I wish hines would just step it up against the ravens though, he is a nobody for reception and yard wise the past few years, He is a good possesion receiver against every other teams but seems to dissapear when it comes to the ravens. I think he has 2 years starting and 2 year 4wr.
2010 - 41 receptions, 523 yards, 4 TD's (12 games)
2009 - 95 receptions, 1167 yards, 6 TD's
2008 - 81 receptions, 1043 yards, 7 TD's
His last 2 years were 2 of his career best.
You've got to attribute some of the drop off to losing Santonio Holmes. Also, the first 4 without Ben. It does seem like he's disappeared, but who cares if we are winning games.
I think Hines would excel in the slot because he knows how to read defenses better than anyone and find the "soft area" in the zone and sit. Wallace will certainly draw double coverage, and Sanders and Brown are both up and coming (Sanders more than Brown AT THIS POINT). In a perfect worls, Hines would play another year or two, retire, and become the Steelers WR coach.
