    Let the speculation begin!

What a coincidence, ESPN is reporting Amato fired shortly after the Steelers meltdown against the Ratbirds .....

Many have said there's been secret negotiations going on between Cowher and NC State for months ...... now we'll see if it's true.

Enjoy your new job Bill, at least you can drive home for lunch and be back in time to hot tub with Kaye in the evenings.

    Amato Fired at NC State
North Carolina State coach Chuck Amato was fired Sunday, sources close to the situation said, a day after the Wolfpack lost to East Carolina 21-16 -- their seventh consecutive loss to finish the season.

The Wolfpack finished this season with a 3-9 record, 2-6 in the ACC, and lost consecutive games to Akron and Southern Mississippi. The Wolfpack failed to score more than 24 points in any game this season.

Amato had a 49-37 record in seven seasons at NC State, including a 25-31 mark in ACC games. The Wolfpack never finished higher than fourth in the ACC standings during Amato's tenure and had two losing seasons in the three years since four-year starter Philip Rivers headed to the NFL.

NC State athletics director Lee Fowler is expected to announce Amato's firing later Sunday night.

We all know how Cowher is and he's not going to want to retire on a losing note. If the Steelers current path continues in the manner it has Cowher will return next year and be fired up more than ever... IMO

If Cowher intended to take this job all along then he basically trashed anything I thought about him. If your heart isn't in it hand the reins over to someone else. The Rooneys, your players, and the city deserve better than that. I can't see Cowher leaving the Steelers with such a horrible season though. I don't know what to think.
