I just got the text from the Steelers. I'm not sure of the exact scenario but I think it has to do with the fact that the Colts beat the Jags today. I'm sure we'll get the official info soon.

We'll have to go back and sort thru 43's post for that answer...funny but does anyone really care right now?

Despite a 22-17 loss to the New York Jets, the Steelers (10-4) were told by the NFL nearly an hour after the game ended that they secured a playoff spot via a series of complicated strength-of-schedule tiebreakers.
They clinched a playoff spot, but need to win out to win the division. Unless the Ravens lose another game

The NFL notified the Steelers this evening that even though they lost, they clinched at least a wildcard playoff spot based on a tiebreaker that would go their way on strength of schedule.
The Steelers still can win the AFC North Division and earn a No. 2 seed with a first-week bye in the playoffs.

So yeah we clinched but it's a small victory for now. Hopefully we'll feel better about it tomorrow.
Clinching is nice I guess. Would have been better had we won.
Still hoping for the divison and the bye.
