Like it or not, our Secondary is here to stay

Let's briefly analyze this. For the first time in many many years the Steelers have alot of youth in our Secondary. Troy is still in his first contract, McFadden is young, Taylor is young, Anthony Smith is up and coming, Ryan Clark is a veteran but still has alot of years left, Tyrone Carter is young, Deshea is the elder statesman of the group along with Logan.

One of the reasons the Steelers signed Ike, and will be looking to lock up Troy, and big reason they drafted McFadden along with Smith was so that they wouldnt have to address this area in the draft for years to come.

Having said all that, no matter what we all want or feel is needed, dont look for this unit to change that much next year. It's just the facts based on the Steelers traditional way of thinking and some logic thrown in.

It would take a lot of pressure off these guys if we had some kind of pass rush. That is the only way the Steelers have ever been able to hide average at best CB's and it hasn't happened this year enough.

I agree wholeheartedly with Steelerfan. There's absolutely zero fukking excuse that our front seven can't generate a pass rush. ZERO ....

Aaron Smith is done ... best years are behind him.

Big Casey ... still the best motor of the bunch. One of the few that come to play each week.

Keisel . . . not getting it done as a full timer, undersized. Will excel if moved back to 3rd down pass rush specialist. Excellent on Special Teams and he's great when he comes in late in the game with a fresh motor when everyone else is sucking wind.

LB's need to feel some competition. They're getting older and are severely lacking attitude and fire .... They were caught up in the wash today and were seriously manhandled by the Ravens front five.

You all are right on the money. I don't need to add anything to this. It is just mindblowing what has happened this year.

Our secondary has always been good because we've had a pass rush. That's the whole key for our secondary is the front 7 must get pressure and when they don't we are exposed.

I dont have a problem so much with our front 3, they are doing their job clogging the lanes. I blame our LB's mostly. Think about it, the majority of our pass rush always comes from our LB's. That's the way the 3-4 is designed to work and up until this season it's worked like a charm.

finally i can get this off my mind lol....last week i was sitting in the library stuck on a question, so my mind went off and i started reflecting on our season, and i was reflecting on our secondary

i know i've bashed ike but i started to think i shouldn't be that upset.....he may have been in the league for a few years but this is only his second year as a starter, so i'm looking at this year as a sophomore slump for him, i think next year he'll come back more experienced and ready to prove that 05 wasn't a fluke

also with year under clark's belt he should be better in this system and better working with troy

and i hope Anthony smith will get more playing time the rest of the year so he can get his experience, he should be good

mcfadden is gonna be good, i've liked him from the start and i see big things from him next year

so like tg said, we need to work on that pass rush, and maybe we can get a beast in the draft to help with that since we will be picking high

We need help at LB. These guys just aren't as good as they were last year for whatever reason.

The strength of our defense is always our LB's and this year they just are literally doing next to nothing so yes either some hungry youth needs injected into that unit or this current unit needs to recommit themselves.
