While it is too early to judge Mendenhall I would feel a lot better about his prospects if he had at least shown the odd flash of something special. I know he was a 1'st round pick but I seem to recall reading that many NFL insiders thought it was a major reach for the Steelers to take him in the first round and that he would have been available in the second round.

One thing I know is that the Steelers seem to be able to judge talent better than any other franchise and I am not going to second guess any decision they make with RM or IR. They see these guys almost everyday and make decisions based on more than just practice and one preseason game. I also don't care who is scoring the touchdowns as long as we are putting up the points. I want wins and championships and that is what the Steelers do better than any other NFL team.

im UN-impressed. We all know the skills are there... but he seems to run with little heart behind a poor run blocking o-line!!! That needs to change!

He looks lost and scared to me! Had the chance to lay the boom and backed off...Not what I was hoping for! If a DB comes up to make a play lay the fkr out!

Mendenhall is soft. He almost quit in college and probably should have. I hope something clicks with him soon, but I just don't see it. He doesn't show the ability to run through tackles, he is one and done (meaning one tackler). In the open field he uses a spin move that gets him tackled everytime. I hate to write off players to see them on another team, but Mendenhall could make it through wavers at this point. He runs soft, has no heart, and will be passed up on the depth chart soon.
