Co-designer of US Steel logo died

I work for a newspaper in NY and there was an obit in today's paper that stood out to me. A guy who helped design the US Steel logo passed away. His obit is below:

    MEYERSON, BERNARD B.

WHITE CREEK, NY Bernard Berice Meyerson passed quietly on Thursday, August 6, after a year long battle with cancer. "Bernie" was born October 12, 1918 in Chicago, IL, to Eva Tabiacman and Meyer Meyerson, and moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1925. He won a scholarship to The Cooper Union in NYC, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1939. He was "called up" in the first round of drafts in January, 1942, and married Constance "Connie" Mercer of the Bronx, NY, before shipping out. He served as a ballturret gunner in a B-24 with the 5th Air Force, in the South Pacific. His bomber was shot down on his 6th mission, and although seriously wounded, he volunteered to stay on and remained with the "outfit" until the end of the war. In 1955, Bernie settled with his family in Cross River, NY, and partnered with an old classmate to form MEYERSON/PEDOLSKI, Inc. Advertising Agency. One of his proudest accomplishments was to help design the US Steel Corp. logo, also used by the Pittsburgh Steelers football team. In 1974 he served as the Executive Director of the Christian Science Institutional Committee for the State of NY, managing prison outreach. In 1984, he and Connie moved up to White Creek, and for several years ran a successful real estate firm with his close friend Howard Peeney. He is predeceased by his brother James, sister Sylvia, and Connie, his wife of 59 years. He is survived by three children, Timothy B and Kathleen G. Meyerson, and Jonathan Mercer; his grandson, Tyler D. Meyerson, and his sister-in-law Frieda Meyerson. No Funeral Service will be held, but a Memorial for both Bernie and Connie will be announced at a later date.

Sad to hear that he passed on but he will have a legacy that will live on indefinitely.
