first off im going to say wow you really did your homework. second in the DL you have a lot of nose tackles, wile i realize the position is old i do not see how we can draft that this year. we have casey and hoke, i dont think we can fit three nose tackles on our roster next year. would you be willing to cut one of these players in favor of youth, or hold on to 3 NTs? i wouldn't, NT is something we deal with next year or even 2 years from now i believe.

In the case of B.J. Raji, no way he's available anywhere near the Steelers first pick. Alot of these players will be long gone, but none the less needed to be mentioned.

In the case of Ron Brace, he would be a nice addition in the 2nd round because he's a versatile guy. He could play NT, DT on passing downs, and probably even be a backup option at DE in a pinch. Not a very good chance he'll be available at the end of the 2nd though.

Nose tackle is such a hard position to fill. I don't expect the Steelers wait until the cupboard is bare to begin addressing the future of the position. The chances are still pretty low that they draft a NT because there aren't really too many true NT's out there. Most of the NT's I have listed would all need some practice squad time to develope. Keep in mind, the Steelers will be lucky to have 4 of their draft picks actually make the active roster next year. I'm sure if they found a NT they like, they would find a way to make room on the active roster if need be. There just aren't a lot of spots up for grabs.

i think cornelius lewis will be a 2nd or 3rd round pick at this point

DL will need to be addressed soon because Smith and Hamp while still playing at a high level are not getting any younger. I suspect Tomlin will do the thing he likes and take the best player available, which in itself is misleading depending on how you look at it, but I think it's a safe bet he knows the OL is in need of repair and the draft is the best way to start fixing it.

Concentrate on the OL this year and begin getting younger on the DL next offseason.

Not really. The later round players are always debateable and a few will rise and fall based on the combine, but by now things are getting pretty clear.

They won't have a shot, but make no mistake...if Raji was an option they would be all over him. He's the best NT prospect in years. It's actually quite rare to have such a highly rated NT prospect in the draft. They are just rare. I absolutly think he has to be #1 on the Steelers draft board. Like I said though, they have no shot unless they trade the house and move into the top 10.

As far as the later round NT's go, none of them are all that special. If the Steelers really like one, now is the time. Late round NT's need some development, so waiting until you need one means waiting a few years to stop the run while he developes.

My top 15 DT Prospects for the 2010 Draft. Possible NT's in bold.

2. Marvin Austin, 6-3, 305, North Carolina*

3. Terrence Cody, 6-5, 368, Alabama(much taller than you like you're NT's to be. Also grossly out of shape)

5. Demarcus Granger, 6-3, 306, Oklahoma (would need to add weight, and just had back surgery.)

6. Ndamaukong Suh, 6-4, 305, Nebraska (More of a 3-4 DE, too tall, too light.)

7. Dan Williams, 6-3, 312, Tennessee(Maybe the closest thing to an NFL NT, but not a ton of upside.)

8. Lawrence Marsh, 6-5, 305, Florida*

9. Mick Williams, 6-1, 285, Pitt

Notice the name of this thread. Chances are he'll be drafted in the 4th or 5th round, but his value to the Steelers has to be quite low. He's not the type of OG they like, and they already have 3 better options at RT than Loadholt would be.

Your blathering manlove for BJ Raji is no different than the excitement many here had for Amobi Okoye a couple years back when he dominated at the senior bowl. Just like scout.com which you deny has any impact on your independent evaluations, BJ Raji has shot up their board just like yours amazingly after the senior bowl practices.

Ehhh, No need to bash Darnik, Out of everyone's opinion's that I have read on this site. His are by far the most competant. And yeah, Raji is a stud. Guarenteed he's number one on the steelers board. We don't have a chance in hell at him, but regardless, he'll be in that number 1 spot.
