Maintaining the Steel Curtain II

I was just wondering if anyone know if we'd be able to maintain the Steel Curtain II? Will everyone be staying do you think? Adding anyone who will keep it as great as it is or making it even better??? Can it get any better actually?

Pretty much the defensive core is returning... Here's the guys looking for a new contract.

CB Bryant McFadden UFA
DT Orpheus Roye UFA
S Anthony Smith RFA
LB Keyaron Fox UFA
LB Andre Frazier UFA
CB Fernando Bryant UFA
LB Arnold Harrison RFA
CB Anthony Madison RFA

McFadden is probably the biggest name on the list but it would be nice to see them all come back. So what will become of Steel Curtian II... I think it will be even better next year and challenge some of the record low records held by teams who played a 12 game season

Steel Curtain II

I find that nickname so disrespectful. Steel Curtain was 30 years ago...

This team is good enuff to warrant their own nickname. They have their own identity. Everytime i hear Steel Curtain II i shutter. Its like nails on a chalkboard.

Does anyone else feel this way?

The entire defense will be back next year as far as starters go with the possible exception of McFadden who we have to keep IMO, he is top priority. We're in good shape as far as contracts go but we will have to make sure we keep the depth intact because those guys were huge for us this year.

They were talking on the radio before about naming them and the best that anyone came up with was "The Terrible Twelve" with the 12th man referring to Lebeau. Maybe we can keep that name going to avoid Steel Curtain talk.

If Lebeau is back our defense will be maintained!

Feel free to come up with a new name for the Defense. Maybe we could go with New World Order.....

They only thing this team needs to do to maintain what they have is stay healthy. All the top guys are coming back...coach too. They just need to keep up the intensity and play ball. All else will fall into place.

No I think it's actualy a compliment....Steelers are known for the tough Defense so why would it be named anything else??? If you have a son and you're so proud of this son and you name him Jr or the II. It's kind of the same thing...Steel Curtain II is the son of the Steel Curtain..To me it only seems appropriate to continue the great tradition of awesomeness by naming it as a father would his son...Get it?

I thought that the original Steel Curtain was named because of the city. Not so much the players on the team. I have no issue with these guys being called the Steel Curtain, but they can ditch the II. The original group went back and forth about what part of the Def was the real Steel Curtain anyways, so I dont see what it matters.
