Steelers sign CFL player Stefan Logan...

The Steelers today will sign Stefan Logan from the Toronto Argonauts. Called the CFL's "most exciting player," Logan will have an opportunity to make the team as a return specialist and third-down running back, according to The Vancouver Sun.

Logan played for the South Dakota Coyotes in college, he's around 5'7" 180 lbs. He ran a 4.39 on his pro day, a poor mans Darren Sproles.

aw shyt! is this the KR we need so bad? I wouldn't mind taking a run for CB, Justin Miller in FA either.

Here is some more info on Logan, at least he'll come cheap. He has the resume to possibly make a difference, time will tell.....

Logan was among the league leaders in rushing yards with 889 yards on just 122 carries in 2008, his first CFL season. The 27-year-old also caught 52 passes for 477 yards and three touchdowns.

The 5-7, 185-pound Logan signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted rookie in 2007, but was released.

Logan, who was a sprinter on South Dakota's track team, rushed for 1,155 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman in 2003.

He added another 1,345 yards as a sophomore before going over 2,000 total yards as a junior, when he rushed for 1,751 yards and 11 touchdowns and added 26 catches for 428 yards and two touchdowns.

He finished with 1,707 yards and nine touchdowns, and added 153 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver in his senior season.

Logan averaged 15.9 yards per punt return with one touchdown, and averaged 28.2 yards per kick return and one touchdown.

I expect this will be the first of many UFA's signed in the next couple months. Most of these guys don't make the team, but they make the competition for those jobs much more interesting. I want a tackle, guard, center, defensive end, kick returner, fullback (Carey Davis sucks at everything fullbacks are asked to do.....run block, pass block, short yardage) after that I don't care what they take.

That's a ton of production no matter how you look at it. If he can make the transition to the NFL level he just might work out. He's got good speed and if his return instincts are that good we might have found a gem but we'll see. Our return game is a big need this offseason.

Solid. I really didn't understand why we had Gary Russell and Moore back there on returns. They aren't really what you call fast. If this dude really runs a 4.34, I'd love to see him make the team. Seems like a fast little bastard.

I think it was because they have good hands. Not so much the speed. Hope the little guy works out. Sproles has shown what a little guy jumping out of peoples back pockets can do for your team.

Russel was back there mainly because we had nobody else that could do it. They tried Davis and Dookie back there earlier in the year and that was a disaster. Russel was not the fastest guy but he has sure hands and can break tackles. It wasn't best way to go about it but given our lack of a true KO returner Russel was the best option for us in 2008.
