Because of the injury situation at outside linebacker, the Steelers signed Justin Kurpeikis to their practice squad. Kurpeikis, a former Penn State star, was with the Steelers' roster in 2001-02.

Rookie wide receiver/kick return specialist Willie Reid was downgraded from doubtful to out. Already ruled out of the Oakland game are outside linebacker James Harrison (ankle) and safety Mike Logan (hamstring).

Running back Duce Staley missed practice for personal reasons.

The Steelers are flying to California Friday. They are flying into San Jose. They will have a walkthrough at McAfee Coliseum Saturday, then fly back to Pittsburgh after the game Sunday from Oakland.

It really sucks seeing Reid still not able to play especially after we all waited so long for him to get into the game

Duce not playing doesn't hurt us much. I guess Reids foot injury from a couple weeks back is worse then we all thought. I hope he gets healthy soon because Holmes is the main guy but it would be nice to have some additional backup to help him out.
