    NEW YORK, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu, who had an interception in the Steelers' victory last week, has been selected the AFC defensive player of the week.

    Polamalu had 10 tackles, three passes defended and returned an interception 49 yards in Pittsburgh's 45-7 rout of Kansas City in earning player of the week honor.

    San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers was the conference's offensive player of the week...

    The AFC special teams player of the week award went to Tennessee tight end Casey Cramer...

    I would challenge anyone to find a better safety in the league than Troy. He's as good or better than anyone out there.
