    Who Knew?? Steelers Recievers

    Who Knew?

No Steelers receiver has reached 100 yards in one game this season. The last time a Steelers receiver reached that mark in the regular season happened Nov. 5, 2007, when Santonio Holmes caught four passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns in a 38-7 victory against Baltimore in Heinz Field. Hines Ward had 135 yards on 10 receptions in their 31-29 loss to Jacksonville in the playoffs Jan. 5. -- Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

how can anyone explain this little tidbit I found....

Some of it is Ben's struggles......But I think to this WR core isn't as good as we thought it was.....Ward is still a warrior and produces....But he isn't in his prime.......Holmes is talented but he hasn't put it all together yet....Nate is what he is....A solid 3rd WR that can go deep......I just Sweed develops since he could really help our WR core in the future....

I thought we drafted Holmes to be our deep guy/speedster. I might have missed it but when has Holmes gone deep lately? I keep hearing how Nate is our deep guy.

What is Holmes role on this team? Maybe this is part of our problem or maybe this is his problem...just a thought.

Holmes and Ward function the best when they are both on the field. When one of them is out the other just gets double teamed to death and that pretty much dampens any realistic threat through the air. Nate is an OK player but he doesn't scare anybody enough to warrant a look from anything other than a safety or backup QB.

Part of it is as BG32 mentioned is Ben's struggles as well as the line not playing well either. It's all something where when it works, it works great but when it doesn't it's a disaster. Nate is a UFA next year and Sweed will probably slide into his spot, but at that point I think this team needs guys like Dallas Baker to get healthy and step up but just as important we need Ben to step up and put up the numbers like he did most of last year.

Also consider the fact that Ben spreads the ball around pretty well.

I'm really glad that Nate has finally shown us that he has some hands this season. He has helped pick up the slack of Santonio missing a game and having the dropsies, last game and Sweed's slow development.
