A lieutenant with the Pittsburgh Fire Department was Tasered by off-duty city police officers after exposing himself at Heinz Field yesterday, police said.
Martin Sanders, 39, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, police said.
According to Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Tammy Ewin: Sanders exposed himself at a concession stand inside Heinz Field at about 6 p.m. yesterday.
When Heinz Field workers tried to escort him out, Sanders punched a worker in the groin, then tried to get away and hit a security guard in the groin. Off-duty city officers were called to assist in subduing Sanders, and he kicked one officer in the knee.
Sanders was handcuffed, but refused to stand, and tried to head-butt an officer as he was being led out of Heinz Field. Officers then shot Sanders twice with a Taser as he continued to try to pull away from them.
He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, which is standard procedure after being hit with a Taser. Sanders hit another officer at the hospital after the officer told him he could not talk on his cell phone inside the hospital.
Sanders was scheduled to be arraigned today in city court
