PITTSBURGH (AP) — Hall of Fame Steelers running back Franco Harris plans to open a cafe in the city's blighted North Side.
The city's Urban Redevelopment Authority sold him an abandoned corner building for $40,000. Harris said he hopes to open the eatery next spring.
The cafe will feature Mediterranean-style food and live entertainment. Harris told officials that alcohol would be available on a limited basis — beer and wine with food only, with an option to sell liquor after two years.
Harris also operates Super Bakery, which makes vitamin enriched pastries and doughnuts, in the city's North Hills suburbs.
