"Pittsburgh continues to ensure that this seasonís special teams will be addressed, as they signed former Wake Forest wide receiver Kevin Marion to a free agent contract today. The signing was in response to the release of Purdue wide receiver and return man, Dorien Bryant, who failed his physical yesterday.
Marion finished his collegiate career as Wake Forestís all-time leader in kickoff return yards. He was an honorable mention All-ACC selection as a return specialist in 2007. Marion led the ACC in kickoff return average at 31.3 and was third in the nation in return average.
Marionís career as a wide receiver didnít amount to much, as he amassed only 44 catches, for 518 yards. He wasnít a Demon Deacon for his receiving ability.
In 2007, Marion averaged the 31.3 return yards on 28 returns. He returned one for a touchdown, and 81 yard return in which Marion faked a hand off, than burst free for the touchdown. He ended the year with 876 kickoff return yards, and was second on the team in all-purpose yards. He runs a 4.3 40, which does make him an enticing prospect. Thereís no doubt what Marion was brought here for, I just donít see it happening for Marion, but the competition has never hurt anyone. At least the Steelers are trying to address the issue."
I'm just wondering why exactly we signed Mewelde Moore for if we're still in pursuit of kick returners?
