I thought it might be a good idea to start a separate thread regarding this specific idea, as we move forward and seek support. The premise is simple, an appropriate, cost-effective, long-lasting memorial to Myron Cope - a man who meant and means so much to the Steeler Nation.
As we all know, the currently under construction PAT Tunnel to the North Shore will be the main conduit through which fans from around the nation will travel to Steeler's games. Why not name one of the two new T-Stations the "Myron Cope Memorial Station"? Eventually this may come to be known as the "TERRIBLE-T" and a memory wall could easily be installed within the station for everyone to enjoy. Perhaps even a statue.
This concept is gaining traction, and yesterday I was fortunate to be interviewed on KDKA Radio by Fred Honsberger about it. You can listen to the interview on their website by clicking HERE.
You can also read more about this idea by visiting my blog. The original post that started it all, or more recent updates.
In the last week I have written hundreds of emails to influencers in the Pittsburgh community, including the Mayor, County Executive, City Council, Steelers, Pirates and PAT executives. But your help is crucial as we build a consensus and move this idea forward.
Any suggestions, comments, contacts or other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Go Steelers! And thanks.
