The Steelers will make the deal stretch out as far as they can and give him a HUGE signing bonus to stretch out the hit as much as possible..plus you can bet in the coming years he'll be one of the ones restructuring to free up more space. Ben is the king pin to this whole team, if we don't sign him we might as well kiss any future success goodbye for a long time so it's good the team is close to getting this deal done. We don't want Ben to even sniff free agency ever!

Steelers Extend Ben Roethlisberger
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that the Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement on a long-term contract extension for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
A long-term deal for Roethlisberger was considered one of the Steelers' top priorities this off-season.
Although no details have been announced, Roethlisberger's guarantee is likely to exceed $30 million, and, depending on the length of the contract, it could have the largest total value of any contract in NFL history.
As we've previously noted, the contract signed by Rams quarterback Marc Bulger and the contract signed by Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo both had total values in the $60 million range and guaranteed money in the $30 million range. Roethlisberger is only 25 years old and has certainly accomplished more in the NFL than the 27-year-old Romo and has arguably accomplished more than the 30-year-old Bulger.
Glazer reports that the team and Roethlisberger will make an official announcement this afternoon.
