It normally takes a couple years for WR's to really come into their own on a team so bringing in a good FA WR to help ease the transition would be optimal if you ask me. With the problems we have on the OL and DL (depth) I don't think we'll hit any WR that's a show stopper in the 2008 draft unless we get lucky so a FA would be a really temporary solution to fill in.
You can find a quality young WR in round 2 in this upcoming draft........

I don't know about taking a WR so early this year, I mean I know we need depth but I'd really like to address the DL and get some fresh blood there. It was obvious with Smith out this year that we suffered dramatically. No rookie is going to take the place of Smith but I think we've ignored this area far too long. I'd like to see us bring in a veteran WR to help out and then see what happens.

There's just so many areas that need depth we really can't go wrong grabbing just about any area right now.

Porter could fill the need nicely, if he'd come for the right price he'd be a solid veteran to have in the mix. Plus you know he'd love to come to a team that his successful instead of being stuck in Raider land and always losing.

The thing with Jerry Porter is even though is very talented there are questions about his work ethic....Now the same was said about Randy Moss in his days with the Raiders....So coming to a winning team might change Porter's attitude greatly...But there is always that what if with Jerry Porter......
