Tomlin or Colbert

I read a post where Diesel was talking about who has the biggest influence in our war room. I wonder for the last 15 years how much of the drafting woes were Colbert's influence and how many were Cowhers. Now we have Tomlin comes in and he hits a home run with all 3 of day 1 picks. Timmons was hurt but he's got a lot of potential and he'll get his shot in 2008. Woodley was just flat out brining it this year and he'll take over in 2008 in place of Haggans IMO.
Spaeth played a big role early on but then got hurt but we find a capable backup to Heath and this probably makes Tuman expendable but we'll see. We saw signs of a better day 2 draft with Sep. in the 4th round and he's been money this year.

Now that Tomlin has had a year with this team how much of an influence does he stand to have in the War Room in 2008? We all know our day 2 drafting stinks and we have go to improve I just wonder if Colbert will continue to be the key influence in the locker room or if Tomlin will get who he really wants now.

Interesting question......
One thing for sure though is Tomlin will be watching alot of gameday tapes this off season. Like posted in another thread, having all the injuries this year should show which Back-ups has it and which ones don't. So IMO he will be taking the time to veiw this and direct that focus to April's Draft.
I believe Tomlin is young and full of willingness to do his homework and search out the best possible players available. Hopfully Colbert will see this and allow Tomlin the space to expand on new Ideas.

I'm sure Cowher had a lot of influence on draft day, hence the lack of quality day 2 picks and lack of depth at key positions we're stuck with now. I'm thinking Colbert finally didn't feel pressured into making certain picks last year and with Tomlin, who has a great football mind, being there along side, it was a good joint effort. I'm just hoping and praying that they have already gotten some kind of wish list going to meet our needs. The more Colbert and Tomlin hang together evaluating up and coming talent will only lead to a great draft all around that we haven't seen since 1974.

All they have to do is look back over the last 2 seasons and see how many times Ben was running for his life and how many times a running play got blown up before it started to realize the OL is the biggest key this offseason. If we don't make the right changes here we are destined to struggle again in big games.

Tomlin wants to play physical football on both sides. We can do that but he's got to draft well and we need these day 2 picks, especially the 4th and 5th round guys to be contributors and not training camp fodder.

I'm not trying to be an ass or admit that I now alot about propects, but can you guys give me anyone's (names) or postion that we should maybe spend these 2nd days picks on? Do we get any comp picks this year?

I didn't read any of the responses but I think anyone can pick on day 1 for the most part. It's DAY 2 where he needs to find compitent back-ups and diamond-in-the-roughs! The way Chuck Noll did it....

Tomlin will get some influence, that im sure off. However, this is only hes second year as HC. No matter what, influences comes with trust and since Tomlin havnt been in Steelers for more than a year, he isnt AS trusted as Cowher yet. Im sure by time he'll get more influence, but im oretty sure he wont have as much influence as Cowher..

I think collectively they should work together... Colbert has a pretty good track record and now that Tomlin has been here for a year he knows what the team needs... they'll get it worked out
