Several Milestones Are Within Reach For The Steelers Sunday Night

    http://www.wpxi.com/sports/14714428/...urg&psp=sports

    Pittsburgh Team Notes

    • The Steelers look to improve to 46-30 all-time (including the postseason) against the Bengals.

    • The Steelers look to improve to 5-0 against AFC North division opponents this year.

    • The Steelers are looking to improve to 25-13 all-time at home against the Bengals.

    • The Steelers look to improve to 7-0 at Heinz Field this season.

    • The Steelers look to improve to 7-2 against AFC opponents this year.

    Pittsburgh Individual Notes

    Head Coach Mike Tomlin

    • Needs one more victory to become just the second Steelers rookie head coach (Bill Cowher) to post a winning record in his first season at the helm. Tomlin is 8-3 in his first season with the Steelers.

    WR Hines Ward

    • Needs one 100-yard receiving game to move into sole possession of second place on the team’s all-time receiving list. He currently has 16, which is tied with Louis Lipps (1984-91).

    • Needs two touchdown receptions to break the all-time record held by John Stallworth (63). Ward currently has 62 receiving touchdowns.

    • Needs 202 receiving yards to become the Steelers’ all-time receiving yardage leader. He currently has 8,522 and trails only John Stallworth (8,723).

    RB Willie Parker

    • Needs 56 rushing yards to move into sixth place on the team’s all-time rushing list ahead of Barry Foster (3,943). Parker currently has 3,888 career rushing yards.

    • Needs 489 yards to surpass his previous career high for rushing yards in a season. He currently has 1,006 yards rushing this year and had 1,494 in 2006.

    • Needs two 100-yard rushing games to move into third place on the team’s all-time list ahead of Barry Foster (20). Parker currently has 19 career 100-yard rushing games.

    • Needs three rushing touchdowns to move into the team’s all-time Top 10 for rushing touchdowns. He currently has 18 rushing touchdowns.

    QB Ben Roethlisberger

    • Needs one touchdown pass on the season to move into a tie for third place on the team’s single-season passing touchdowns list with Terry Bradshaw (1980). He currently has a career-high 23 touchdown passes on the season and is just five touchdowns shy of the team record of 28 in a single season (Bradshaw - 1978).

    • Needs 55 passing attempts to move into sixth place on the team’s all-time list ahead of Mark Malone (1,374). Roethlisberger currently has 1,320 career passing attempts.

    • Needs one 300-yard passing game to move into a tie for second place on the team’s all-time list with Neil O’Donnell. Roethlisberger currently has four and is tied with Terry Bradshaw.

    TE Heath Miller

    • Needs one touchdown catch to surpass his previous career best of six touchdowns in a single season. Following his two-yard touchdown reception in Week 10 against Cleveland, Miller has tied his career high with his sixth touchdown catch of the year.

    K Jeff Reed

    • Needs 13 points to reach 600 career points.

I don't think Parker will get the 489 yards Sunday night but all these other records and milestones seem to be attainable especially against the Bengals D.

The only important milestone on this list is
The Steelers look to improve to 5-0 against AFC North division opponents this year.
That means we stay at least the 2 games ahead of the Browns heading into the Pats game next week.

That is the most important one right there, if we can get to 5-0 in the division we will continue to set ourselves up for a good post season bid.

It would also be huge if earlier in the day the Colts lose to the Jags and the Browns lose to the Cards in Arizona. If the Browns lose and the Steelers win it means the Steelers get that two in a half game lead back in the division and get to 9 wins and put the Browns at 5 losses at 7-5. Which then means all the Steelers would have to do the last 4 games is win 2 of them, or win one and have the Browns lose one of their last 4 and they win the division. If the Colts lose to the Jags and the Steelers win they jump back up into that number 2 seed again tied with Indy at 9-3 but owning the tiebraker because they would have a better conference record over the Colts at 7-2 to Indy's 5-3. This is a huge huge weekend for the Steelers as far as these other two games are concerned. The Steelers can really put a strangle hold on the division with a win and a Browns loss in Arizona Sunday. It would almost take a total collapse by the Steelers the rest of the way to not win the division if the Steelers win Sunday against the Bengals and the Browns lose in Arizona. Not to mention that number 2 seed is still very very much a possiblity as well.

That's a good point because the Jags are pretty hot right now and always give the Colts fits so it's not out of the realm of possibility for them to beat the Colts. The Cards can beat the Browns too, Whiz knows their team very well and they can score points in a hurry so it could be a shoot out.

Of course this all hinges on us winning so we better take care of business.

    Sepulveda looking at team records

Since records were kept in 1981 only one Steelers punt team have averaged better then 38.0 on net yards, that was Josh Miller with 38.1 in 1999. Its right at 38.0 with 5 games to go, well within reach. Sepulveda isn't worried about that record so much, cuz he knows his style has more to do with giving the other team poor field position. He is more focused on these 2 records. So far this year he's had 24 punts downed inside the 20 and has only 2 touchbacks. Team records are 35 I20 by Mark Royals in 1994 and 3 touchbacks by Royals in 1993 and Stryzinski in 1991. Every one of his 5 punts on MNF were inside the 15.....14, 10, 11, 6 and 10

If you don’t stand behind our troops.....Please feel free to stand in front of them!!!

"Give me a 6 pack, half hour of rest and lets go play them again....We can beat them."
    --Jack Lambert

"They say that when you're the champs, everybody will try to beat you. Well, I'm glad we're the champs, so bring 'em on, bring 'em all on. If we die, we ain't gonna die running. It's gonna be a fight."
