Hines Ward pushing record for Steelers wide receivers

    http://www.wnep.com/global/story.asp?s=7298654

    Thursday November 1st, 2007
    by the Associated Press

For a guy who was supposed to be another Slash
when the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him in 1998, Hines Ward has
been more than a reasonable facsimile of John Stallworth and Lynn
    Swann.

Fittingly, the two Hall of Fame receivers known for their
playmaking ability in four Steelers Super Bowl victories plan to be
in the stands Monday night when the Steelers play the Baltimore
Ravens in a key AFC North game.

Because of Ward, Stallworth and Swann are finding their names
less and less often in the Steelers' record book.

Ward's two touchdown catches during a 24-13 victory Sunday in
Cincinnati gave him 61 for his career, two fewer than Stallworth's
team-record 63. Ward also needs 445 yards to break Stallworth's
club record of 8,723 yards receiving in a career.

The ironman does it again, Hines is a Steeler through and through. I can still remember the day we drafted him and then seeing him start playing on ST while we drafted people like Troy Edwards and Plax to be the next great Steeler WR and here he is now outlasting them all as one of the Best Steelers players ever !

When he passes the record he should be headed to Canton with a Superbowl MVP to boot.

His will to block in the running game, and effort on plays away from him his side if the field speak volumes.

    HOF'r in my opinion.

the thing is you can definitely see his skills and techniques rubbing off on holmes and holmes is more of a true WR imo, ward is just nasty and has been forever which has made him successful. But its a beautiful thing seeing holmes mirror ward in blocking, going over the middle, going up and catching the ball and getting open....we have a special duo
