49ers vs. Steelers (Wk. 3)
The Steelers and 49ers meet this Sunday at Heinz field. Both teams come into the game with a loss of either of their records. If the Steelers can win, which more than likely they will, they can start the season 3-0 for the first time since Bill Cowher's inagrual season in 1992. Hopefully, this becomes the first of many records and firsts that Tomlin can achieve as the Steelers head coach.
Both teams like to the run ball. Gore finished last year with almost 1700 yards rushing. Thus far this season he has averaged a dainty 68 yards per game, and need I remind any of you that the Steelers haven't allowed a rusher to get 100 yards since November of 2005! The 49ers have had problems moving the ball through the air, they are ranked 31st in the league and for the season their average is below a 100 yards per game. Combined with an awesome Steelers run stopping D and now one of the elite secondaries in the league San Fransisco doesn't really have a chance unless they can get a call in to Belichick before gameday!
The Steelers pack a powerful running game as well, more so than the 49ers of course, but they have always been known to jam the ball down your throat and ask questions later. The surprise this year has been the play of Big Ben. Last year after his first two games he had 0 TD's and 5 INT's... this year after two games 5 TD's 1 INT and of those 5 TD's 3 of them have been to the TE's which goes to show the Steelers have finally decided to use the TE after blowing smoke up our asses for so many years! The big surprise though is Spaeth who has 2 of those TD's, but may be sidelined for the San Fran game.
So what it all comes down to is the 49ers need to find a way to break down the Steelers defense which neither the Browns or Bills have been able to do. As long as the Steelers can eliminate the turnovers, which they've done thus far this season, and capitalize of turnovers caused by the defense then we should expect another 20 point victory!!!
Join us this Sunday... here in the gameday thread as we talk about the game and cheer our Steelers to a victory!!!! :tt02:
