Haha I saw that on my FB earlier and knew James was messing with people. He should have waited to April 1st. Ps James is a cool guy and always giving away tickets to the games each week and other stuff on FB.

Don't you DARE give me a heart attack like that again
I wish I could reach out to James Harrison. He's a Steeler through-and-through. If he stays, I suspect that he'll always be a part of this great organization. He's old-school. He reminds us of our great legacy at Linebacker. He ranks among the greats to play this game, and we should do all we can to keep him in Pittsburgh.
James, money is just paper. We love you. We have cap issues; this is the hard part of this business. Stay with your family. We won't abandon you.
Pretty sappy! The NFL is a business, James works for the "man" and will go to whatever team that will continue to sign his paycheck...
Not so fast gang, he's willing to restructure per NFL.com
Of course he's willing to restructure. He loses not even a penny that way. In fact, he gains, because as part of the restructure, he walks out of the meeting with a huge check (instead of earning that money over the course of the season.)
Harrison has a 6.570 base. Restructuring turns about 5.5 of that into signing bonus, which is then prorated over the 2 remaining years of the deal (meaning they receive a ~2.75 cap savings this year, and an extra 2.75 cap hit next year.) Outright cutting him saves 5.1 million on the cap. Restructuring just keeps compounding the problem. At some point, we have to pay for those restructures which are causing salary cap hell and the reason why we can't sign or young free agents.
Harrison is 35 years old and he's been injured the last two years. It's not like we're trying to figure out how to keep a 29 year old LB (or a 26 year old corner), who still has a good 5 years in him. Sometimes it's just time to move on. This is one of those times. Think with your head, not with your heart. It's the right move.
As you all know, I sent my resume to Rooney.
If I'm hired and take over the team, I will offer Harrison a one year deal.
