Ok even though I think Te'o will be there when we pick , I still proposed a trade down scenario using walterfootball new mock on who is left when the picks are up
Miami has 2 2nds and 2 3rds ... so with them to be able to come out of the draft with the best WR and a good LT on first day ... we trade their 1st 2nd , later 3rd , and future 1st ... for out 1st and a future 3rd
17th and next year 3rd traded to Miami for their 42 ,82 , 1st next year
42 - Phillip Thomas - SS - Fresno State - A beast , can create splash plays , can play just like Troy does roaming all around and making tackles behind the line
48 - Khaseem Greene - ILB/OLB - Rutgers - I think he would be a good ILB next to Timmons in the 3-4 or 4-3 ... so he Fits that now or a little down the line we switch to a 4-3
79 - Bacarri Rambo - FS - Georgia - Thomas and Rambo will be able to create turnovers , when it's their time ... I would love this safety tandem going forward
82 - Logan Ryan - CB - Rutgers - I love the way he plays, presses, zone blitz , run support , blitzes ... he does everything from the CB position, plays like a Steeler , great steal here at the end of the 3rd, Ike aging , what do we have beind Lewis and Cortez? ... what if Lewis doesn't resign here?
112 - Gerald Hodges - OLB/ILB - Penn State - Will Spence be ready? who knows ... but either way He would be a good ILB on the 3-4 and play OLB in the 4-3 ... tackling machine and can cover
5th - Larry Webster - DE - Bloomsburg - only one year of football after playing basketball , so he is maybe to much of a project then most would like here , but his potential is through the roof with his athleticism / Maybe can go WR , RB , or backup QB here if you don't like the project
6th - Michael Williams - TE - Bama - Great run blocking TE with some redzone ability... maybe a better receiver then what Bama used him for?? guess only time will tell in the NFL, but we know he will be able to run block
7th - Mike Catapano - DE - Princeton - Good run stopper, lost I think i read 20 pounds this year and his sack numbers went way up, I believe this is a name you'll hear rising draft boards and won't be here in the 7th
I understand all Defense , but this sures up pretty much all the defense positions except an elite rush DE prospect, with some projects at those position drafted later , but they could pay off big in the long run ... Focus on DE prospect and Offense next year
Defense Depth Chart
Lewis------------------- Woodley - Hood - Mclendon - Heyward ------------------Ike
--------------Hodges/Spence ------- Greene ------------Timmons--------------------------
--------------------------Troy ------------------- Clark ---------------------------------
With the Likes of Dline depth, DE - Worilds / DT - Tamu / DT - Heyward / DE -Webster / DE - Catapano / DE - Carter
LB - Hodges or Spence what ever one don't start / Sly
CB - Cortez / Ryan / Brown / Van Dyke
S - SS - Thomas / FS - Rambo / either Cromartie-Smith or Golden
I like the depth chart .... and the youth, I really love the safety combo of Phillip Thomas and Bacarri Rambo, and Logan Ryan playing Dime and special teams until his number is called when Ike is finsihed
They're not switching to a 4-3 anytime soon unless LeBeau dies.....That is the only way the Steelers will get a new DC if the old man dies since he will never retire or the Steelers won't force him to......
My Jerk Comments
- Don't like the trade down scenario. I also think it's idiotic for Miami.
- Love Phillip Thomas and Rambo safety combo. That would be great... but I hate the idea of spending 2 early picks both on safeties...
- Moving to a 4-3 without adding a pass rusher or DT.... meh, not a good plan IMO.
- I like Khaseem Greene, but there is ZERO chance he plays the MLB position. The guy is a pursuit LBer only. He'll play the Weakside, or be a special teamer.
- I LOVE Hodges. I think he's a great fit in the current scheme (Buck), and would also be a very good strongside backer in a 4-3.
If you want to target a 4-3 MLB, I think Minter in the 2nd round would be perfect.
4-3 Draft... my stab at it
1st - Alex Okafor DE
2nd - Kevin Minter MLB
3rd - Bacarri Rambo S
4th - Gerald Hodge OLB
- Know you don't like the trade back and the Steelers would probably never do it... just was having fun passing time

Just wish they would , I love that moving forward
- What about Andrew Jackson from Western Kentucky if he declares??? ... or Tom Wort from Oklahoma??? (he declared I read)
- I love Hodges too ... Rambo and Hodges are my two favorite prospects ... I really hope they draft both... I am also becoming high on Phillip Thomas and Logan Ryan too
I would be happy with your draft ... I like Okafor even for OLB , the guys a gamer ...and I love Rambo and Hodges ... don't think Minter would be there though ... like I already asked what do you think about Andrew Jackson or Tom Wort in the 2nd??
You are probably absolutely right ... but what you can't deny is that the past couple drafts been drafting players that seem to fit in the 4-3 better than the 3-4 ... and Also I would believe the 4-3 would be Tomlin Philosophy of choice

I don't anticipate Andrew Jackson declaring. But if he did, I'd have serious interest. He's old school. I never thought I'd see a Lber like Levon Kirkland again... but this guy is it. I think he's a 2014 1st round pick. His game vs Alabama this year, was an eye opener
if you are going to switch to a 43 you need a big time DE, an all out stud. and then hope that woodley can play LE in a 43.
drafting FSs and LBs just isnt the formula....we have LBs that can play in both schemes, but you need a pass rushing RE just like if you switch to a 34 you need a NT and a pass rushing OLB
heyward was being looked at by a lot of 43 teams because hes a perfect DT for a cover two scheme (better 34 end imo) but hood is a 43 UT and has no business even in a 34 subpackage
I think with varaitions of the 4-3, a pass rushing DE isn't as necessary as the ability of a DLine to create pressure/collapse pockets. Whether it's from a dominant edge rusher, or through an atheltic and well schemed front 4 is less important.

Sounds like the makings of a solid 3 man DT rotation.
Woodley at DE in a 4-3, I think he'd be more effective as a pass rusher being able to work inside and outside against tackles.
So, that's 3 pieces of a Dline in place, that can put pressure on through a 4-3 scheme.
At LBer... I don't think we have the pieces in place at all. I think Timmons obviously fits. I think he'd be an All Pro Weakside, or an adequate Middle.
Unless you have an absolute beast D line, like the Giants, you need quality pursuit backers. You want one guy who can pursue sideline to sideline, and you want another guy who can play the "20 yard middle radius". Timmons can fill one of those 2 roles, no one else on the roster can fill the other.
