Steelers' Roethlisberger hurts broken thumb
December, 2, 2011
Dec 27:29AM ET By Jamison Hensley Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger didn't finish Thursday's practice after hurting his right thumb. It happened when he hit his right hand (and broken right thumb) on a helmet while throwing a pass, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Roethlisberger, who spent the rest of practice watching with an ice wrap on his right hand, told the paper that he expects to be fine. His offensive coordinator agreed.
"A little sting on it, nothing major," Bruce Arians told reporters, via The Post-Gazette. "Just ice it down. The last period was mostly runs, just get it healed up properly."
The thumb injury didn't affect Roethlisberger despite the fact that he passed for a season-low 193 yards last Sunday. He didn't appear to have any problems throwing the ball in Kansas City, and it looked like he threw with the same velocity.
An injury hasn't forced Roethlisberger to miss a game since November 2009, when he suffered postconcussion symptoms. A look at Roethlisberger's history of injuries:
2005: Broke right thumb and tore cartilage in right knee
2008: Separated right shoulder
2009: Suffered postconcussion symptoms
2010: Broke nose and fractured bone in right foot
2011: Sprained left foot and fractured right thumb
is it me or does he seem to be getting injury prone since 2008?
on that note he should be fine and ready to go its not like he will miss time i just hate all these injuryes this year
