Kovalev is really not all that great. Better than a 7th round pick yeah, but I'm not all that excited about him.
I am. I think this team is preparing for life in the playoffs without some of the more important players. While I really like how some of these young guys have been stepping up, I think that Alexei will bring valuable experience to the team.Quote:

Kovalev is not the player he was, but he's a huge talent and comes very cheap. I think it's a great move for a 7th rounder. It's very possible that he goes on a roll. Orpik probably broke something so I'd guess he's done until the playoffs. If we get everyone back except Geno we should have a very well rested team ready to make a run.

I'm hoping Kovalev gets the Guerin effect. Billy G wasn't playing all that great before he was traded to us, but it kinda rejuvenated him a bit.
