TEMPE, Ariz. - Matt Leinart still is the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals.

Kurt Warner will be still waiting in the wings as the team's "no-huddle" specialist after nearly leading the team to a comeback victory at Baltimore on Sunday.

"We're going to try to find ways to keep Kurt playing based on how he played yesterday," coach Ken Whisenhunt said on Monday. "But I don't feel like Matt has done anything to lose the job."

How Leinart feels about this unusual two-quarterback approach is a mystery. As reporters crowded around Warner in the locker room Monday, Leinart walked past with a towel over his head, grabbed the playbook out of his locker, and left.

You can read the rest of the story via the link. Leinart is in a fragile state right now, he could easily tank and lose all his confidence if he's not careful, ala Kordell Stewart when he was yanked. If Leinart struggles, Whiz won't hesitate to put Kurt in so we'll need to be ready for both QB's.

Dude it sounds Whisenhunt might rotate both QBs in the game.....Thats retarded...lol Teams have tried that in the past and havn't been to successful.....You have to pick one guy and stick with him.....

You make a great point......Pulling Matt Leinart would shatter his confidence....If that happens that will set the Cards back even further.......He is the young guy and the Cards have to find out if he is indeed their future QB....Look at the **** Ben went through last year...He is doing fine this year....

I was slightly worried about this game but if Whiz is going to play musical QB then that will play into the hands of the Steelers defense....I know he is thinking when he put Kurt Warner in there and went with the no huddle it did throw the Ravens D off....But now the Steelers will see that on film and prepare for it this week....

I thought Whiz is smarter than this, this is a mistake!!! Unless the organization is playing to build the team and not win now!!! Warner is gonna give ARI the best chance to beat us. He is an ex arena league guy who thrives on the quick release. He's a 5 step drop and gun'it type of qb, which is gonna be the best way to work the zone blitz we run. Lienhart is gonna get beat up... BADLY. Immoble, Inexperienced with little arm strength. Tha boy is in trouble i expect to see Warner in the 3rd but its probley gonna be too little too late!!!!!!! Great post TOPGUN thats just what i wanted to hear!!!!

I really don't see any way that Arizona can stay in this game. The Steeler defense will once again take away the running game and force the Cardinals into a one dimensional passing game. At that point the LeBeau defense will pin its ears back and go after the quarterback(s). Won't matter who is in there.

The Ravens struggled with them only because the anemic offense of the Ratbirds struggled moving the ball. The Steelers will not have that problem! I realize that the Steeler offense has still not started clicking on all cylinders but I believe they are getting closer to that happening.

Just as in all of our other opponents I would have to give the Steelers the edge in offense, defense and special teams. After all haven't the Cardinals been referred to as Steelers II because they have snatched up all of our rejects? How could a team that hovers around our table begging for table scraps be considered a legitimate threat? The Steelers will not go undefeated but this will not be the week that we lose.

One of the things that I have liked is that Tomlin has this team playing with a lot of confidense and poise. Under Cowher we used to play down to our opponents level and squeak out wins against inferior teams. So far under Tomlin's regime we are beating up on the teams that we are supposed to beat. We are taking what other teams are giving us and exploiting their weaknesses. :helmet:

I don't know, I kind of want to see the old man Kurt Warner in there.... He has been a fumble machine since 2001......Yes, he has the quick release to get rid of the ball quick, but if the pressures gets to him then he will cough the ball up.....

Whoever Coach Whisenhunt starts he has to stick with one QB...Rotating the QBs like that will divide and kill a team....

Warner is one of those guys that can come in and spark a team here and there but if you ask him to do the job full time he'll crumble. If Leinart is your man then stick with him, he needs all the experience he can get. This musical QB thing is a disaster waiting to happen because if Kurt starts coming in all the time and they either win or get close to winning games nobody is going to want Matt in there and it's not like Warner is there future. They need to stick with Leinart no matter what and let thim get the experience he needs.

As far as this game goes, Im not worried about the Cards defense much, our offense should be able to move the ball effectively enough against them to take the crowd of out of it so we can take control. Our defense as BG4vr mentioned should be able to contain that tin foil OL of these and get after the QB all day long and if they do that it's going to be lights out.

We need to stay on our game here and not let the cards hang around and try to steal one from us. This is a HUGE game for them and we need to jump out early and make them one dimensional asap.

This past weekend with Whiz putting the old man in is a complete game plan against us. He was starting early to try and confuse our game plan for them.

He's not stupid.

I don't like to predict games just cause I believe it's bad luck, but I look for Ben to finally have a BIG day. He has been great thus far, but I have a feeling he and his WO's will have a big day.

I see the kid getting confused by our blitz and the old man coming in but he dont have the wheels to get out of the way so I dont see it being a good day for the Cards:nahnah:

Why is everybody surprised about the QB controversy in Arizona? After all, Whisenhunt did learn everything he knows about QB development from one of the best. :bluelol:

Look for the D to dominate the cards o-line and have leinart or warner running for their lives..............

Great post TOPGUN thats just what i wanted to hear!!!! I'm pretty sure Whiz knows that better than anyone. He'll use any advantage he can including starting Lenart the first quarter or so and bring in Warner. That way we'll practice all week for Lienhart. Either way it won't matter because Tomlin's always prepared. If I were Whiz i'd put the youngster on the shelf tomorrow and feed Kurt to the wolves lol! He knows full well what this defense is gonna do to them Sunday, that's the reason it's even an issue with their QB situation.

On paper based upon their "weaknesses" in comparison to our "strengths" defensively,. it could be said that we should win easily.

But the reality is that on any given sunday,..anyone can be beaten. And to take the Cards lightly would be an error on our parts.

Whiz and Grimm not only have a great deal of familiarity with our system as a whole and our personel in terms of the majority of our starters. But an understanding of just what weaknesses that we have as well offensively. (In terms of what makes our best players "tick" if you will.)

Now add this along with the fact that the Cards do have the actual talent to play with anyone in the league,..and this could very well be a "trap game" if we were to take it as anything less than if it was a game against one of the "Media darling elite teams".

Bottom line,.... if Coach Tomlin sees to it that ruthless professionalism is the rule of the day,..we win going away. But anything less,...and at the least we could be in for a "Long day".

Well, looking at the qb situation in AZ makes me glad that the Rooneys didn't hire Wiz. I doubt we lose this game, but just as previously mentioned, we should not take it likely, but hey, Tomlin is no Marvin Lewis:lol:

A few things here... I think Whiz has only been focusing on their game against the Steelers which he will soon find out that if you think about something to long you always think wrong. Yeah he very well might have been trying to throw the Steelers defensive game plan off but if anything he hurt is team more than anything. Leinart is a fragile guy and being benched ripped him apart and completely shot his confidence. He is now looking over his shoulder wondering how long until I'm yanked from this game, and he's also thinking if I make one mistake I'm outta here. Leinart is going to be over thinking everything this weekend and not wanting to make mistakes which will inevitably lead to constant mistakes. Whiz screwed himself this time and really did nothing to help his team or anything to confuse the Steelers. The Steelers have just enough tape now to plan for Warner and Leinart and it doesn't matter who is in there... the QB with the shattered confidence right now, or the old guy who will take one hit and be done!

The other thing... isn't this going to be like a practice for the Steelers D? I'm sure Whiz took his playbook with him because I have seen the Cardinals run a lot of plays the Steelers use to run. In all the time he was with the Steelers he seldom was able to mix it up enough to throw defenses off so he's got a lot to think about between now and game day! :D
