Since the SA Kitchen has been a success and everybody has such great recipes, it was brought to my attention to consider making an official SA cookbook, either in paperback or hardback ?

What's your thoughts on it everyone? If most of you like I'll see what we might be able to do to put it together !

That's a great idea.....especially if it had pics! Sounds like a lot of work though.

BlitzburghRockCity

It's really not that much work. The recipes here are already loaded up into this section with all the information needed, so it's just a matter of transferring that info into pages for the book. Yes pics would be a good idea if you can get them.

This is a good idea!... I'm just starting to cook for myself and I would like to buy one. :redcool:

A section with just recipies of Pittsburgh style food would be cool. I know you guys eat some different stuff and it might be nice for us out of towners to have.

Im trying to get this together before Christmas but Im not sure it will be done in time. Im still checking the cost on it. I have some leads but trying to find the most cost effective way to do it without looking cheap either.

Maybs instead of an actual book ,how bout an easy download of the recipes???
That way no one is out any money if no one buys it... :dunno:

BlitzburghRockCity
11-01-2007, 09:58 PM
We're considering an option of making it available for download as well. We're hoping to be able to raise some money for the site to help out with the operating costs as well give everyone a great book to find good recipes so that's why we are looking very hard at keeping the cost down as much as possible. We're open to all suggestions as always :)

Is their any way that in the book can have a conversion chart. To make the dishes say in size of 250 people. If so im all for it the kitchen here can use some serious help. A week of my dinners.Every 4 weeks same thing.
S-Tuna Salad or Egg Salad ---mmm just what I want to eat during a game.
M-Chez Burg or Sloppy Joe ---Not as good as it sems.
T-Cottege Cheese Plate or PBJ--Bad nite but for some reason seniors love it
W-Ck Encha Cass or San of Day- Usually SOD is old fashion loaf. YUK!
TR-Turkey Sand or Pizza-- A decent nite.
FRI-Grilled cheese or Fake Steak-- Name says it all.
Sat-Riblet Ck Cho Mein---Get the rib thingy
Thats the reason I have spent $2400 in C/o over the time I have been here. Right now I am at 335 days.

That would be up to the submitters to be able to adjust their entries for larger size portions. Some of them wouldn't be too hard but the more complex dishes could be difficult I would think :dunno:

At this point it's more than likely going to be a paperback version, and we'll most likely by a bunch to start off if I can get a good price. I have a couple sites Im looking at right now that do it.

When we start putting them in the cookbook, each person's recipe's will have a spot to give credit to the proper person...but yes if they are not yours and you found them just make sure you give proper credit.

LOL yeah but as someone who's tried to put a bit of varity into all your taste buds without much success i fear all your cook book would be full of is what kinda of sauce to put with my steak!!! It seems 80% are just interested in Steak and potatoes and as much as i like a good steak too, this cook book could be very "steak" oriented!!!:lol:

I mean look at the comments i've got for putting up the reciepes for Haggis, Black Pudding, and Liver and bacon??? LOL

For example here's a tester anyone intertested in my reciepe for

Sea Bass in a salt crusted bake, ( doesn't make it salty just cooks the fish in it's own juices to make it super succulent ) with sliced paprika and salt flavoured potatoes, with halved salt infused cherry tomatoes, sprinkled with basil, and steamed broccoli with lemon juice. ????

As it's not steak i doubt it!!! LOL

It is still on the agenda yes. Unfortunately there is so much going on right now I hardly have time to turn around when I'm on the site. :thud: ;)

If anyways wants to help out with this just let me know. One thing that would be a big help is take all the recipes in this forum section and put them into 1 big thread so they are easier to access and track as I get time to start making this.

BlitzburghRockCity
01-06-2011, 10:41 AM
so in the interest of keeping this going, which I definitely want to do. I have been doing some research and there are some affordable ways to actually take these recipes and put them into a cookbook. Many of them though require the recipes to be in a .pdf format so that would require a good amount of work to put all these into those files.

In the mean time I'm going to make subforums in this section for Desserts, Main Dishes, Tailgate food, and Side Dishes. And go through all these great food choices here and organize them awhile so we can see what we have. Plus it will allow those that use this section to be able to find things more easily.

So someone would have to put all 219 recipes in one thread? If that's the case i could probably do it unless there is someone else lined up for it. We can negotiate too. lmk.

I just saw this and don't know how far along we are. I did see a site a while back that had a themed-based menu depending on what opponent you are playing (i.e. Seahawks could be a chicken based meal). If there is interest let me know, I could see if the football based menus are still posted on their site.

Also, put me down for 1 book.

This has been something that I've wanted to do for a long time. It's very time consuming though. I'm open to anyone that might like to head this up or maybe just help get the ball rolling.
