I figured since there are so many other monkeys out there doing their rankings, I could do mine too! In my book though, if you lost this first week you don't deserve to be ranked with the teams that did win (plus it made it easier to rank them;))! Look for my rankings to come every week, next week I'll get them done on Tuesday. Yes, for those of you who don't know, I am Mr. Rogers, not "the" Mr. Rogers though ;)

Rank|Team|
Comments
1|Steelers|
They are the defending SB Champs, so until they lose they will be #1
2|Eagles|
McNabb looked good and they did what they were suppose to against a soft team.
3|Jaguars|
Jacksonville is going to be tough this year, Leftwich looked really good.
4|Colts|
Peyton can thank his little brother for this one.
5|Seahawks|
Wasn't pretty but they got the job done at the end of the game.
6|Falcons|
Vick looked impressive for a change and through a TD to a WR! It's going to snow in September!!!
7|Bears|
They shutout Green Bay on their home turf, and put offensive points on the board.
8|Bengals|
Are you happy now, did you get your revenge? To bad it was against the wrong team. PS next show a little more remorse.
9|Chargers|
Defense looked awesome and Rivers started to shine there at the end of the game.
10|Patriots|
A safety? Are you kidding me! Golden Boy Brady didn't look so golden either, looked a little rusty to me.
11|Cardinals|
Could this be the year they finally meet everyone's expectations?
12|Saints|
Reggie Bush looked like the real deal and with the addition of Brees, the Saints could turn some heads.
13|Vikings|
Maybe their run at the end of last year was legit :dunno:
14|Rams|
Didn't score an offensive TD, but did an admirable job against Denver
15|Ravens|
It's to early to have them higher, Simms isn't that great of QB anyways
16|Jets|
Pennington might just be back this year and have the Jets as contenders… wait, it's still to early to tell!
17|Panthers|
Was missing a key part of their offense, will turn things around.
18|Broncos|
Plummer is feeling the heat now?
19|Giants|
Almost only counts in the game of horseshoes, to many mistakes by a veteran team!
20|Chiefs|
With retirements to O-line in the offseason it really showed against a soft Bengal run defense
21|Dolphins|
Daunte looked to be a little off with his timing, watch out after week 5
22|Cowboys|
TO looked good, but I'm not sure about the rest of the team.
23|Bills|
Coulda, shoulda, woulda.
24|Redskins|
They didn't do much in pre-season and it has carried over to the regular season.
25|Lions|
Is their defense for real this year? If so, they just need an offense to put some points on the board.
26|Buccaneers|
They did look like the playoff team from last year. Maybe they are asking too much of Simms?
27|49ers|
The 49ers at least made the game against the Cardinals a game there at the end.
28|Browns|
Is Frye really the answer for Cleveland?
29|Titans|
QB woes continue, will Collins be the answer and turn his career around against San Diego?
30|Texans|
Still kicking themselves over the draft.
31|Packers|
Shutout at home… are you kidding me!
32|Raiders|
Gave up more sacks than Brooks had completions! they don't even deserve the ranking of 32

That is some pretty darn good stuff. Eagles at #2??? I don't know about that. Seahawks are little too high too. I would had the Chargers at #2. The Cardinals above the Patriots. Other than that, You did very well Mr. Rogers.

Given that the Seahawks did go to the SB last year, you can't really deny them until they do lose. Bottom line is they did waht they had to do to win the game.

The Eagles are the only team that looked good both sides of the ball!

I wouldn't have went out on a limb and posted my thoughts if I wasn't ready to take some criticism! Don't worry about it HoS, I like to hear others opinions plus it maks for a great discussion.

:bigthumb: Great post AZ and I do understand why you gave Seattle #2, but I saw that game and they looked a bit worse than they did in the superbowl. DetriotnSeahawks don't mix. LOL

Good stuff bro ! Nice post ! It's always interesting to see power rankings in week 1 and then look back at mid season and see how much they've changed.

I dont agree with all the top 10 rankings. No, I am not saying that the pats have to be ranked higher, I am implying some of the teams which had won, were not that impressive in their games. Especially colts and seahawks. The seahawks played a team in rebuilding mode and they struggled. Colts, for their big offence, were lucky to get the win. The teams ranked 6-9 fared much better than those 2. Thats my :2cents: .

:iagree: the teams 6 through 9 did do better but since this is only the first week the teams that made it deep into the playoffs last year was taken into consideration, especially the likes of Indy and Seattle. Unfortunately, Seattle will be the only team of the two you mentioned playing a team that could challenage them (Cardinals) becasue Indy is playing Houston.

Here's you're :2cents: back ;)

Maybe so, but its a new season, its a new game. Nobody expected the steelers to win last year being ranked 6th in the playoffs. Denver was bad for a team that competed for the AFC championship. These rankings should be based on every week play and not on previous year's performance. With interest :2cents: :2cents: .

:hilarious: Good one PatsOwnU :bigthumb:

I'll meet you 1/2 way on that one because yeah it is a new year, but at the same time it's the first week and we don't have a whole lot to go on. I'll keep that 4 cents now  Maybe rankings should be treated like the BCS standings... let the teams play about 5 games see where their at, then start ranking each team...

I dont know about the Falcons. They upset the Panthers but I would take some teams like the Chargers and Patriots over them if they played in a game today. The rest looks good though.

I struggled with placing Atlanta and they were the last team I ranked. Vick looked good this last game and it was a team effort.

San Diego completely took the passing game out of Rivers hands because they have no trust in him at all. He looked very Rookie Ben like, the only differnece though Ben threw a little more than 11 passes a game and on 3rd and long situations. This will eventually catch up with San Diego, IMO.

New England squeaked out a victory over a weak Buffalo team and I don't think they should have won that game... but they did!

Those 3 teams though could easily be switched around in the rankings, the next couple of weeks though will truly let us know.

I can agree with that, hard to determine a team give or take a few spots after week 1.

I give you credit AZ for trying your hand at this. I think ranking the worst and best teams is the easy part. I think the challenge is the middle 15 teams. Its hard to come up with a good reason to distinguish rank 17 from rank 18.

I agree with you, Hawk. That is no easy task to do power rankings, of course, the media love to kiss some team's asses.
