Cleveland Police tell Fox 8 News Cleveland Browns cornerback Leigh Bodden has been arrested outside of Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

According to Cleveland Police Lt. Thomas Stacho, Bodden was taken into custody at 6:30 p.m. and was charged with aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Cleveland Hopkins Director Fred Szabo tells Fox 8 News Bodden was taken into custody outside the pick-up area in the lower deck of Hopkins after parking his vehicle in a restricted area.

Lt. Stacho tells Fox 8 News, after being asked to remove his vehicle from the restricted area Bodden became involved in a verbal argument with police.

According to Stacho, Bodden was driving his vehicle in reverse and the wrong way on a one way street in the pick-up area.

Bodden eventually pulled the vehicle to the curb, parking in a restricted area, got out and began walking toward an airport entrance.

Stacho says officers told Bodden to move his vehicle and the cornerback became verbally abusive. After several minutes the incident escalated to the point where officers attempted to place Bodden under arrest.

According to Stacho, Bodden resisted arrest when officers attempted to place handcuffs on him. Bodden later complied and was taken into custody.

Cleveland Browns Vice President of Communications, Bill Bonsiewicz, tells Fox 8 News the team is aware of the incident and they are currently gathering information on the arrest.

Bonsiewicz says Browns Head Coach Romeo Crennel will address the situation tomorrow morning after practice at the team facility in Berea.

Bodden is currently being held at the Justice Center downtown and has yet to post bond. He is being booked on aggravated disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors, and traffic offenses of failing to produce a driver's license and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Lt. Stacho says Bodden could be formally charged as soon as Wednesday night .

:plus1:

When will these young guys learn that the general public are sick and tired of athletes who act as if they are above the law because of their celebrity status? When being confronted by law enforcement at airports where security is taken much more seriously it is best to be respectful and 100% compliant with law enforcement officers.
