Steelers sign eight players to practice squad
By Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Steelers today signed eight players to the practice squad.

Seven of them were with the team in training camp. They include wide receiver Dallas Baker, tight end Jon Dekker, defensive back Grant Mason, defensive lineman Ryan McBean, defensive lineman Scott Paxon, center/guard Marvin Philip and wide receiver Gerran Walker.

The Steelers also signed running back Jamaal Branch, who had been with the New Orleans Saints.

Only one Olineman named to the practice squad and that somewhat surprising....Glad to see Baker and McBean placed on the PS...Hopefully they can develop more next year....

We never really got to see him compete with first teamers so we don't have a good gauge of his skills. He also played at division II level in college so no surprise that he dominated there. I think that mine and every other Steeler fans interest in this guy stems from the fact that he and his family were lifelong Steeler fans and season ticket holders. So it would have been nice to see a hometown boy make it with his dream team. It was a feelgood story like the one about that Philadelphia guy that played with the Eagles in the 70's (Vince Papali). Maybe he wasn't too good, we don't really know. Maybe things will still work out for him. I will still be rooting for the hometown boy to make it in the NFL if not with us then with someone else. :bigthumb:

is there any proof that the Browns picked up Capizzi? They said on the nightly sports call here in Pittsburgh that the Bengalsinsider said it but there is no word of it on the browns website.

He's not a Brown. NFL.com has all the transactions on it and that is NOT one of them. And it is being updated regularly....

If he's not a brown then he'll be a Cardinal Im sure :nonod:

Im glad to see Baker and McBean making it to the PS, they'll get a lot of much needed experience running the scout teams and just getting to practice on a regular basis.

Keeping another receiver and tight-end on the practice squad??

Capizzi might have been a project but I think he would have been more valuable on the PS.

Suprised we didn't bring capizzi in we sure could use a project on the line and it sounded like he had lot's of potential :cope:

Maybe Capizzi just wasn't about S*** LOL! If he had any potential he would've been kept around one way or another. Tomlin saw him everyday, he knew what he could do.
