Hopefully once he recovers from this injury he won't have another for a long while!

Lawrence Timmons, the Steelers' No. 1 draft pick, had an injection to reduce the inflammation in his groin and received good news about his injury after getting a second opinion from Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia.

Timmons, a rookie outside linebacker, is experiencing discomfort and swelling in his groin area, but does not have any type of tendon tear or sports hernia that could require surgery. He received an injection from Meyers, a groin and abdominal specialist, and was expected to rejoin the team this morning.

"It's a confirmation of what we already knew," Coach Mike Tomlin said today during a morning news conference at Saint Vincent College. "We're comfortable with what we heard."

It is not known when Timmons will resume practice, but the injection was designed to expedite the process in an attempt to get him back on the field as soon as possible. Timmons has not practiced for two weeks after aggravating the groin injury that caused him to miss nearly all of the offseason workouts.

Well thats good to hear and thats awesome that its not a sports hernia....If I recall thats what Kendrell Bell had was a sports hernia and he was never the same afterwards.......

I just want to see Timmons on the field and start fitting in with this defense....Look at all the multi talented players on this defense.....You have Keisel, Woodley, Timmons, Polamalu.........Thats scary good for a defense to have players that can lineup in multi spots....Its going to be fun to watch this defense.......

Good news. Hopefully this means he will return to practice and maybe even be able to play in the Steelers' third preseason game, sine he will most likely be held out of the game Sat. vs. the Packers.

Well that is goodnews, but I doubt that he will be ready until the start of the season.....
He's missed alot of practice and has alot of catching up to do. Plus,His Injury is going to take time to heal.:yesnod:

Good news! Just as long as he's healthy enough to be on ST's and get his feet wet. He needs to be fully recovered by the time regular season starts so he can also get valuable game time for next year.

I saw on other sites how bad they've been doggin this kid because he got hurt. I think he'll be great because he plays with an intensity on every down that you don't see in every player. The injury kinda proves it, I think he was tryin to do a little to much to impress in his first day out and pulled it. Oh............. I'm glad to finally be around other die-hard steeler fans.:tt02:

The only issue I have with Timmons is the time he has missed. I am really anxious to see what this guy has.

Yeah lets get him up to speed and maybe he can play a few downs next week. THey said in the paper he got some kind of anti inflamatory shot.

I'll admit I was worried about the long term, more significant injury probability of this problem with Timmons but it's good to hear he'll be back on the field soon hopefully.
