It may have been Sunday but it wasn't a day of rest for the men at St. Vincent in Latrobe.
And for running back Kevan Barlow, the news is not good. Willie Parker said he would like to carry the ball even more this season for the Steelers, never mind that he carried 337 times in 2006 -- more times than all but three AFC running backs.
Since entering the NFL in 2001 as a third-round draft choice of the San Francisco 49ers, Barlow has come to training camp as a starter or a player competing to be a starter; not this year.
It is a different role for Barlow, who grew up in Garfield and played at Peabody High School and Pitt. And one to which he is still trying to get acclimated.

I'm only posting this for the comment on Colclough. LMAO! Thank god he will not be returning punts this season!
As for the rest of it, I don't think Willie will ever be another LT, but he is and will be great. I think, when his career is all said and done, he'll be a candidate for the HOF.:crossfingers:

How come big Ben doesn't have to wear a sticker on his helmet that says who he is?? ;)
07-31-2007, 06:43 PM
If someone on the field doesn't know who Ben is they might want to consider looking for another team
That's one thing I always liked about Hines, he tapes up his helmet and gets himself in the mood for camp just like he's a rookie; and works hard every day to earn his spot...even though we all know he's a starter he takes the attitude of working for everything, he's a great example.

Steelers Training Camp Video: The Emperor's New Field
Friday, August 3, 2007
By Dan Gigler & Gerry Dulac
Chuck Noll Field -- the name for the new football home for Saint Vincent College -- was officially dedicated with a late afternoon ceremony that featured Steelers chairman Dan Rooney, team president Art Rooney II, several former Steelers players and former running back coach Dick Hoak, who retired after the 2006 season.
The Rooneys were joined by Saint Vincent Archabbot Douglas Nowicki and president Jim Towey. The field was dedicated before the Steelers' evening practice.
On the newly christened field, several position battles are being waged -- notably the one at right tackle between Max Starks and Willie Colon, though in today's video, Gerry Dulac says it might be a one-sided fight.
