Is Major League Baseball ready for a maverick owner?

Mark Cuban hopes so.
According to a report in the Chicago Tribune, the owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks has officially submitted a bid to buy the Chicago Cubs.

No details of his bid are available, but it is suggested his unpredictability and outspokeness would weigh against him.

Several local groups are in the running and it's thought that local ownership would carry a little extra clout.

:cursin: I've always hoped Cuban would buy the Pirates because the guy has money, he's not afraid to spend it. and he WANTS to win!

I hope the Pirates gain better owners and management someday so I could see them win again.

Why don't someone write Cuban a letter explaining to him how the Pirates would be a better investment?

Cuban was here a couple years ago, looking! But ownership won`t sell! ???? They would rather run us into the ground!
