PITTSBURGH — The Steelers signed eight players to their practice squad today, giving them a total of nine practice squad players, including one who is part of the NFL's International Player Development Program.

Each of the practice squad players participated in the team's training camp, including TE Jon Dekker, DE Orien Harris, RB Cedric Humes, QB Omar Jacobs, FB John Kuhn, CB Anthony Madison, DE Shaun Nua and OT Brandon Torrey. Wide Receiver Marvin Allen, who is part of the NFL's International Player Development Program, will remain on the Steelers practice squad through the entire 2006 season.

NFL clubs could not sign players to their practice squad until noon Sunday (Sept. 3).

So there you go, many familiar names on this squad. Jacobs makes it over Boyd, Kuhn is still sticking around and Orien Harris, who I really like as a player, is also there.

Good to see some of those players back on the squad and I guess if Ben or Btach get hurt then Jacobs is gonna move up to the 53 man roster?

Good to see those names on there indeed. Looks like Omar showed them enough to warrant his spot over Boyd. I like having Humes and Kuhn on the PS, the more reps they get the better they'll be and if they show enough promise we could have a plethera of top flight backs on our hands next year.

I'm glad Jacobs and Kuhn will both still be around.

Me to Prosdo. Along with Humes. We got some good young talent there.

jacobs is overrated college hype, and kuhn i don't know why this scrub is getting so much hype. ppl must really be despreat to replace bettis if they think he has any actual talent to play against the real nfl players. humes will probably be better then he'll ever hope to be if he gets the right coaching and chance

Nah, Humes runs straight up and down and people like Kuhn because he works well with the system. And Jacobs isn't overrated...I havent heard anyone kissing his butt. He is, however, much better than Boyd from what I've seen.

and that's not saying a lot, boyd was straight up shit. but jacobs is overrated. if he would've stayed one more year in college ppl would've been riding his nuts. and he would've came to the nfl and been the same qb that he is right now. that's why i say he is overrated

I just dont think it's possible to call someone on the practice squad overrated.

There are some really good names on the PS and should eventually become a big part of the Steelers in the future, like Humes, Kuhn and Nau...

I guess Jacobs won the battle over Boyd ;)
