Since GRILLING season is here (woot!!), thought I'd post this one I found online tonight--I'll even post the pic with it...

http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/9533/115299yrfeaturedd1.jpg

1/4 c shredded Cheddar cheese
1/4 c shredded Gruyere (which is a really good Swiss)
1 lb ground beef
1 TBS worchestire sauce (or A-1 sauce--whichever you prefer)
1 1/2 tsp paprika
a bit of pepper

1. Pre-heat grill to med high
2. Combine cheeses in small bowl
3. Gently mix beef, worchestire (or A-1), paprika and pepper without overworking
4. Shape into 8 thin patties Mound 2 TBS of cheese mix on each of 4 patties--crimp and seal edges closed.

Lightly oil grill rack. Grill patties about 4 min per side for med-well . Be sure not to press burgers as they cook or they'll split open and cheese will ooze out.
Let burgers sit for about 5 min. before serving.

For different tastes, you can also use (for the inside part)
mushrooms and shredded swiss
pepperjack and jalapenos
bacon with american
bacon pieces with BBQ sauce
bleu cheese and bacon

Or anything else you have in the fridge that you think would be good--such as pickles, onion--imagination goes a long way with this one!

One poster uses Taco seasoning in the burger blend in place of the paprika--another affixes a slice of bacon around the edge of each burger...another uses two types of cheese INside, and still adds a third kind on the top (I immediately thought of Psycho when I read that! lol)

I know that pic sure looks good!

We made these with much anticipation, and our own twist for the first time last night... They were good, but came out a lil dry (cook error) and no human could prepare his/her mouth for the molten cheese that their palette will soon encounter.

Overall, I would like to try it again but without the second degree burn to my mouth. I should have taken your warning more seriously.

I think I'm limited to mashed potatoes and ice cream for the next week...
