We hold Carolina on 4th down, less than a minute to go and they are out of timeouts..the game is over right?? WRONG ! Thanks to Carters bone head ruffing the passer penalty, the panthers get new life and kick the winning FG as time expires and we lose 13-12.

Yeah we shouldn't have been in that position in the first place, we had plenty of chances to take the lead by double digits but penalties and turnovers killed us..still though, when the game is on the line, you gotta think and not make a dumb penalty to cost you team the game. :chair:

Carter was the reason the Cardinals were able to score on their opening drive against the Steelers! He was lost on the field and ended up setting a pick on his own teammate which then left his guy wide open on the goal line! My grandma could have completed the pass because the receiver was so wide open! He better wake up and turn that little light on in his head because the season starts in less than week!

He was playing corner against the Panthers, something he DEFINITELY shouldn't do anymore. And I wouldn't want him to be the starting FS either. With Polamalu, the FS has to do more covering, which is not Carter's strength. He's tough, good against the run, and he can blitz, but he shouldn't be starting.

Well at this point I thin both Carter and Clark havn't impressed much so far. I know its just pre-season but the kid Anthony Smith has looked the best. True Smith went against 2nd and third stringers. I just hope Clark can step it up. I'm cutting him some slack since he is learning a new defense. But Carter to me is nothing more then a backup. I don't even know why he was in the mix for the starting FS spot in the first place.

Ive heard that Tyrone is better than what most people think and that he's really giving his counterpart a run for his money for that starting safety position...but he does tend to make some bonehead plays now and then so he needs to keep his cool becuz if that had been a regular season game, the results could have been catastrophic in the playoff scheme.

I still say Smith starts at some point this season. Having either clark or carter back there scares me. IMO takes away from what Troy does.

It's entirely possible that Smith could work his way into the lineup this season. The last thing we need though is to play musical DB's because nobody wants to step up and assume command of that position. It took Troy and Chris Hope 2 years of working together before they really got good to the point of knowing how to play together to be really effective.

Anthony Smith and Troy Polamalu is going to be the future of the safeties. I wish we would experience this soon cause I believe they are going to be a force to be reckon with.

If there's nobody good enough to take the job then start Smith. What would we have to lose at that point?

I'm totally with you on this. I never really have liked Tyrone Carter. He is a good backup but not a starter in the NFL. I thought Clark could do the job. He is learning a new system. But I really havn't been impressed so far with him. I say why not start Anthony Smith? Especially if both Clark and Carter continue to show they can not get the job done.
