Would love to post the entire article but I've been told I can't do that with articles from paysites. Anyway, Ryan Wilson is a sportswriter for SteelCityInsider.com and these are the guys that he believes sit on the Steelers 1st round draft board. According to him he believes the Steelers choices to be in the order that I give them to you and they only move down this list if the guys ahead of them are gone. Here it is.

1. Patrick Willis/ILB/Mississippi (loves his speed, believes he's a future stud)
2. Adam Carricker/DE/Nebraska (loves the versatility he gives our defense)
3. Jon Beason/OLB/Miami (next best LB after Willis is off the board)
4. Levi Brown/OT/Penn State (If the other 3 guys are gone, can't pass this guy)

I like this list and would be happy with any of these picks in the first round including the Brown pick if the other 3 are already gone. We can still land someone like a Woodley in round 2 or maybe even Spencer at pick 46.

I know that a lot of people might scream if they took Willis because we are thinner at OLB. This pick would be with Farrior's eventual replacement in mind and Willis is a beast who ran a 4.37 that's really fast for a linebacker.

Remember, these are Ryan Wilson's thoughts and I am sharing them with you. Don't shoot the messenger.

Thank you for sharing this information. I would welcome any of these people as well, I think that we will do good in the draft and through this next year

eh, ive read alot on willis and he could easily switch to OLB, he ran a 4.37. I would be really happy with him...happy, that is something i wont be if we draft carrkier.

Is beason better than timmons? ive heard mixed reports

If you were 100% sure we could get Spencer in the 2cd round how would you feel if we got Leon Hall in the first. I think that would be the best case senario but I don't know if its worth the risk, even though if someone took spencer then we would take woodley. Spencer falling to us could be a possiblity.

I wouldn't mind Willis at all. Plus I like this Antwan Barnes kid. Both Willis and Barnes would give the Steelers some young LB's with some serious speed and hitting ability.

I would be SUPER disappointed with any CB pick in the first round regardless of who it is. Most Steeler fans would agree that we don't need better cover corners, we need more pressure on the QB's. You could put HOF secondary players back there and if you don't get pressure on the QB those guys will look bad too. :yesnod:

Steelers.com poll shows that Steeler fans (or those voting) think we need a CB

A corner in later rounds would be okay. Since most if not all the pass rush from our 3-4 defense is expected to come from our linebackers and we just lost the player who did that the best (Porter). A player that could help us pressure QB's should be the top priority IMO. Think about our playoff run through the Super Bowl and the ferocious pass rush that enabled us to even rattle Peyton Manning. Who were our corners then? We didn't see that kind of pressure last year and subsequently our secondary was getting shredded. If a corner gives you 5-6 seconds of solid coverage then he did his job. Nobody can stick with a guy for 10-12 seconds.

frequent steeler.com visitors arent hardcore fans, they just saw taylor get thrashed last year so they call for his head....we know its about the pass rush

I agree with this line up. Even though im a :hail: poz fan I would not mind any of these guys. BUT the steelers could take revis because of Tomlins history of cover2. Leon Hall is good at everything but not great at anything that means BUST.

OMG **** a corner and poz....not what we need at all, i break down in tears if we draft a corner, or carriker or poz at 15

:iagree: 100 %

Even average corners can play like superstars when you have a front 7 that gets after the QB all day long. Our pass rush has got to improve in a big way or it doesn't matter who's back there, we'll be toast because the corners can't hold their coverage forever.

yeah, but millions of people go there....ive voted in that poll too....its just when your everyday fan sees taylor get thrashed they see it as his fault, not the pass rush or cowhers fault. Most members here have a better understanding of the game than then someone who "likes" the steelers

I go to Steelers.com almost everyday as well just to see what stories they have and just snoop around the site.

One of the main reasons I don't post on their boards anymore besides the fact that the mods don't let you say anything without getting reprimanded , is that very reason that so many of them are bandwagon jumpers who think the first sign of trouble with a player means he needs replaced.

K Train I didnt say i would take Revis or Puz at num15 I said i am fans of there play. I could see us trading down picking up anouther 2nd and taking puz or revis. (That is if Willis and Carriker arnt there)

 I love him too.

Everyone thinks hes too slow and too small. All I have to say to that is watch his game film.

K Train

hes not really to small, and hes a crazy tackler....hes not the fastest, not like an AJ hawk....but hes a hell of a player. The thing is he isnt a pass rusher which is what we need. Hes great in coverage and stuffing the run though. Plus hes a MLB for a 3-4. If somehow he slipped to the second that would be amazing. I'ld love for him to play for us, we just need to address other areas first

I wouldn't want a cb in the first round I was just throwing a scenario out there. like 100 % Spencer in second Hall in first I wouldn't mind at all but its not gonna happen.

now If we did take Poz in the first its not what we need at all really but I definetly wouldn't mind it at all I would open my arms and my heart to Poz.

I think willis and Carriker will be gone b4 15 imho... i really think the first choice is timmons, not my first choice but it wont dissapoint me. I really think they steelers have someone in mind, and if they arent there at 15 then they will trade for a later pick and take beason later in the first. I really dont see him as a 15 and he has been cathing alot of atttention from the team... so they must be considering dealing their pick for some later round draft picks (good move imo, i think some of they bette players are gonna come in the 2nd -4th rounds of this draft)

K Train

i hate the idea of trading down in the 1st, unless we take thos extra picks and use them to move up in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th so we end up with high picks in the later rounds, but we dont need alot of picks, we need a few quality picks imo

true true i dont want alot of "late round" picks either. I want more 2nd -early 4th. look at last year we were able to get reid and smith in the 4th both should start somewhere in the line up this year! at the same token look at all the 5-7 rounders we had that were cut. I DEF agree if we trade to getpicks tey better be DAY 1 picks preferably 2-3!

i hope we trade down for Spencer or Beason I'd take them both over Timmons. and is it true Beason's got alot of moxy we need some of that since Porter left.

K Train

spencer and beason....that would be insane

MillerTime83
04-17-2007, 02:37 AM
If you think about it, it really wouldnt be that hard to get spencer and move up in the secound. We could trade down anywhere before the Ravens I think and still get Spencer. So that would mean at least anouther 2nd then we trade the lower 2nd pick and a 3rd to move up in the secound and get the best LB there. ((Timmons/Beason/Posluszny)) Could you imagine...............

1. Spencer
2. Timmons/Beason/Posluszny
2. Hunt

wow

Although we are all throwing out these option I really dont think the Steelers will do anything but stay at there pstion and take the best player that is there. But! I can dream cant I and face it this sure dose look sexy dosent it.
